first....are they sucked from the Gate spell on a cleric or the Energy Buffer (if you have fire domain of course) first....or does it work in some way I have not imagined.....thanks.

A couple helpful posts: Acaos's comment mentioning the order immunity, resistance, reduction. A post I made on that same thread. A while back I did a bunch of experiments with stacking things like Gate, EB, Stoneskin, caster bard song, DD reduction, various items. Gate is resistance as is Energy Buffer. Epic Warding and Stoneskin are damage reduction so they stack, though since the other is immunity -> resistance -> reduction, they will be used after Gate/EB. Gate has a much higher soak amount than anything else so will almost always come first. This is good in that a cleric's Gate absorbs a ridiculously large amount per hit, but bad in the sense that your spiffy DR 50/- item with no total limit is getting ignored while every hit is chinking away at the Gate total.

Ah perfect...thanks for the clarification and posting those links! This shows that while (gate for instance) is wonderfull for a brief time, back up is a good plan to cover things if your gate drops mid mob (with some immunities, reductions, etc.) and most important to refresh that Gate spell as much as possible.....
