Well, "R-HC-" has long been in existence, and there are several people with toons that have R-HC- in the name still running around (Tele in particular has been playing a few of his old ones). This was "Real Hardcore"; the intent was to truly be as hardcore as possible (no wallet [in fact this wasn't even an option for HC until "relatively" recently] no BS rescues, items, etc. etc.). Is there a location for the rules of this "Real Hardcore"? I'm interested (though it would be hard to incorporate "R-HC-" into a name...). And I can see a couple of R-HC-'s online right now. So: - no wallet - no rescues - no items... from other toons? What about: - tasks (quests): Are they ignored? It's easy XP, so I thought maybe. - Rowan Tree: I'd assume R-HC- don't take the free levels to start - randomization: this is an easy way to get gold so thought it might be off limits - store-bought equipment: off limits? - teaming up: can you play with non-R-HC-'s? I am a player of Rogue-like games (mainly Zangband), so I'm used to the idea of death being a matter of time. - Niilo

"Real Hardcore" is imho: Play HG not like a game (don't play metagame.) That includes: - Death == Death - No goods from previous characters (why should they give the goods to that person?) or other players. - Don't explore the same area over and over again for XP (your character knows that area already, why should he/she come back?) - Don't do tricks like despawn monsters to clear the way. - No friendly support of an other high end HC that teleports to you when you are in trouble (that is meta game!) - PS: My son wants that I add some smiley's ("which one?" "just all, haha!"): ;D

No metagaming, eh? That makes sense. In Rogue-like games you simply can't do that, since every game has a completely different map. Even the dungeon levels randomize each time you leave them and return.
