First I Demi'ed this: highergroundpoa.proboards3.com/index.cgi?board=builds&action=display&thread=12529
...and then got to thinking. MY first BG turner had enough cleric to just barely do lvl 9 spells. It could self buff, but I found myself having to time my buffs perfectly because they didn't last long. So what if you took even LESS cleric, and (cue the Village People) went the MACHO MAN route! Macho, macho maaaan, I want to beeee a macho man!
So I reincarnated after demi 1x, and here is what I've taken through hell with the demi 1x penalties. I wasn't going to post this until after I hit Nessus, BUT, so far, this version has held up quite nicely, even with penalties, and I've had a couple of specific requests to post it. So here's the rebuild of the Blackhearted Turner. Personally I don't consider this one to be "better" than then build with more cleric, it's just a matter of play style.
A couple of playstyle notes: The smiting feats aren't really there to negate the non-pure turning penalty (although that is a nice side effect for your first couple turns), they actually help your STR later on, and there aren't too many of the BG bonus feats that help a turner. So you end up with a turner with maxed CHR and fairly rugged to boot. I've taken him on several Tia runs and he'll easily tank a couple of consorts (haven't tried more than 3 yet, but 3 was no problem w/o even spamming heals.)

52 CHR + 12 from gear + 2 from Demi 1x lands me at 66 CHR as I run around popping critters to my heart's content.
I'll update this once he's through Nessus again.
