This is my battle tested and once loved open sub race Yuan-Ti sorcerer. Focusing on constant AoE damage and crowd control this sorcerer aims to keep mobs locked in place or knocked down while blasting them with spells to end their miserable lives.

To be honest, I didn't really know what to do with the late paragon feats since I wasn't very DC based and didn't use many DC spells like most sorcs do with their Disints, Wails, ED, Weirds etc.. instead I had Power Word Kill with divination that hasn't failed to impress me yet, one freezing sphere on a bunch of thids and then PWK and they all die without a chance to heal.
Skills:
The skills I took on this character were limited and so I maxed out...
Concentration 63 - makes some certain checks and allows you to cast and not be interrupted most of the time
Spellcraft 63 - gives you two uses of greater ruin and allows you to cast counter spells
Lore 63 - gives you max damage evo spells and allows you to identify things
Tumble - as high as you can get this preLL with spare points to scrape some extra AC, each 5 gives you 1 AC
Spells Selection:
Note that this is not the optimum spell setup since I only planned to do Hells/Hades with this character, although it adapts to pretty much anywhere because of the multiple choice of elemental damages.
Lvl 1 - Endure Elements, Mage Armor, Grease (very good with conj), Expeditious Retreat, whatever else you want.
Lvl 2 - Shock Weapon, Flame Weapon (be nice to your tanks), Melf's Acid Arrow, Ghostly Visage (short GS but good to move around tactically), Darkness (very good for ely), Web
Lvl 3 - Scintillating Sphere, Keen Edge, Gust of Wind (flumes in uro and other cloudy type mobs), Flame Arrow, Mestils Acid Breath
Lvl 4 - Evard's Black Tentacles (very good physical damage on everything it can hit), Bestow Curse (helps get orbs through and general damage spells), Enervation (nice drain on tough mobs), Orb of Acid, Elemental Shield (the only shield I think is that useful)
Lvl 5 - Vitriolic Sphere, Energy Buffer, Lesser Mind Blank (for thids safety etc..), Lesser Spell Mantle, Flensing (nice dmg to most creatures)
Lvl 6 - Ethereal Visage (85% conceal with Illusion Focus, keeps you alive that little bit longer), Circle of Death (good for low levels and Sissy, wouldn't suggest taking it on a character with this Charisma), Freezing Sphere, Chain Lightning (can change because of scint sphere)
Lvl 7 - Greater Thunderclap, Static Field, Delayed Blast Fireball, Greater Orb of Cold
Lvl 8 - Premonition (keeps you alive longer, and is Div school), Incendiary Cloud, Greater Sanctuary ( can swap this out since you have small GS from GV), Greater Planar Binding ( great summons if evil alignment, get alkiliths with inflict acid on hit. can get nice tanking ac with mage armour, barkskin, UEF, AoV)
Lvl 9 - Bigby's Crushing Hand ( allows you to stop raks touching anyone in hells if they are morded), Meteor Swarm (with karsus this destroys practically anything), Power Word Kill, Time Stop (don't take this if you are not planning to solo much, it's use isn't as great anymore since clouds don't do damage in timestop).
Well that's most of the stuff I can say about this build, it's currently only tagged up to Stygia, but it has been to Cania and done very well for itself. You focus mainly on controlling mobs with Grease and Web with very nice damage coming from Evards and Elemental Clouds. Once they are in this you can start spamming your Thunderclaps, Spheres etc.. and down goes almost anything. This character has experience in 8 man spawns in Hades, able to take them down with the help of a Turner. Seeing 5 pf's, 3 males doesn't scare you, so long as you have some decent rings on.
Conjuration for the clouds and orbs, if cursed or breached/morded Emp Cold Orb can do 1000+ damage to pf's.
Evocation for the aoe damage spells that clear out groups in no time.
Divination for improved Premonition, PWK and the Contingency epic with revives you when you die once per rest casting all buffs in your autocaster on you (put a gs in your autocaster).
Necromancy was for Death of Magic epic, used before Rak Spawns etc... and also it is a good school for a lot of low LL runs like Myco, Toyshop, Uro.
Now that I am level 75 with this character I would definitely say that Illusion is a superior choice over Necromancy since weird has a higher base DC then wail. It also has the perk of Starfire epic which does Raw Arcane damage with I don't think anything is immune to as of yet. On top of that you get a slight bonus to Ethereal Visage conceal.
Once you've played this sick damage caster to hells and demi I'd suggest reincarnating into Radiance Genasi and dropping Divination for Illusion.
*edit: until you are demi with Styxwalker or just higher saves, I would also suggest taking a pally level and saving some points for discipline.
