Matriarch of the Hunt 50 Fighter/7 Weapon Master/3 Rogue
This build grew out of another build I created to replace the out of date "High Troll Lord" build on the regular forums. I came up with Gnoll Variant I named "Progeny of Ancalagon". This build kept the 30 Fighter/8 RDD/2 Bard format, but I gutted most of the fighter specialty feats in favor of Whirlwind attack and Improved power attack. The end result was a 100 AB Gnoll fighter build with decent AC, decent fire immunity, and only those fighter edits that a less than pure fighter could take advantage of, and little to no waste. This build was never posted. Instead I chose to post the Matriarch variant. I will likely post the other when 1.69 is released and whirlwind attack is fixed (once and for all).
The weaponmaster variant was a natural choice, since qualifying for whirlwind attack qualifies you for weapon master (save 4 points in intimidate). Rogue levels grant you uncanny dodge which makes whirlwind attack a little less perilous in its current bugged state. The higher crits this variant makes it excellent for LL areas and it has slightly more balanced saves.
This builds purpose is to take advantage of the control class fighter changes to whirlwind attack. A fighter will get the usual attacks to monsters in the immediate vicinity around your character. In addition the monsters must also roll against another attack which can instantly inflict some or all of them with a 15% physical damage vuln. In addition this build has a temporary invulnerability ability (gained from improved parry) which allows a fighter to land whirlwind attacks without fear of death for a short period of time or to prevent death before tagging etc.
Aside from these perks, this is a very hard hitting character. The top AB for the build will be 99-100 depending on your gear set up and hits with the maximum allowed crit range and multiplier on this server. A fighter specializing in light flails (for example) will enjoy a 10-20 X4 crit range/mult. You also will get damage from sneak attacks and extra physial damage from the warriors whetstone. All saves for this build are at least 60 at level 60 thanks to pre-epic weapon master levels bolstering its reflex saves.
Testing with parry gear and epic skill focus parry I have found that the character is very stable. There are quite a a few items with parry on them (especially in rona). Keep in mind that the larger the shield and the heavier your armor the more parry becomes repressed. Fighters do have a natural bonus to parry as a class, so this is partially buffered against. This build will wear medium armor almost exclusively, and do best with large shields or smaller. However, you will do just fine with a tower shield in most place if you have enough parry gear to compensate. Also, note that control class fighters gain 2 separate benefits from parry. They get the normal crit reduction and a non reducable conceal affect called "Advanced Defense". Advanced Defense acts separately from any conceal buffs. In order to actually get hit a monster must hit through 2 levels of conceal(your buffs and advance defense), epic dodge, and the players AC.
Before starting this build you will need to possess a vail of Dachy blood which will grant you the Dodge feat for free when you drink it. However, a vial of blood from Uroboros will be just as effective. This will give you the cleave feat for free which is also needed in the build (you can only use Dachy or Uroboros blood). Keep in mind that you will need to adjust the feat selection downward until your feats catch up to the build @ level 18 if you drink the Uro blood.
For the build below I selected Light Flail. However, feel free to choose any Martial weapon that you have access to.

Level 1: Fighter
Feats: Strong Soul, Blooded, Weapon Focus (Light Flail)
Blooded, is an investment feat that will allow you to take the tumble skill as a class skill after level 42 (once you attain the Legendary Skill Affinity Tumble feat).
Strong Soul is an investment feat that gives you +1 will and +1 fort saves and qualifies you for the Legendary Soul feat after level 40, which will grant you an additional +5 will and +5 Fortitude.
Weapon Focus (Light Flail), is a feat required to qualify for the weapon master prestige class. It raises your attack bonus by 1 and qualifies you for the Epic Weapon Focus (Light Flail) feat
Level 2: Fighter
Feats: Dodge (gained by drinking the blood of Dachy), Expertise
Dodge, Dodge is one of six feats needed to qualify for weapon master (along with 4 points in the Intimidate skill).
Expertise, is a feat required to qualify for the weapon master prestige class. It allows you to enter into a battle mode with increased AC at the cost of AB.
Level 3: Fighter
Feat: Mobility
Mobility, is a feat required to qualify for the weapon master prestige class.
Level 4: Fighter
Feat: Spring Attack
Stat Increase: Strength
Spring Attack, is a feat required to qualify for the weapon master prestige class.
Level 5: Fighter
Level 6: Fighter
Feat: Lightning Reflexes, Whirlwind Attack
Take 4 Points in Intimidate
Whirlwind Attack, is the final feat required to qualify for the weapon master prestige class. This feat allows you to make an area attack around your character doing damage and possibly inflicting monsters with a 10% damage vulnerability to physical damage. (this can be increased to 15% if you have the Improved Power Attack feat).
Level 7: Fighter
Level 8: Weaponmaster
Feat: Weapon of Choice (light flail)
Stat Increase: Strength
Weapon of Choice (light flail), specializes your character in a single weapons you hold a weapon focus in. Our only focus is in light flail, so it will choose light flail by default.
Level 9: Weaponmaster
Feat: Blindfighting
Blindfighting, negates the defensive penalties of blindness and gives you a better chance of hitting a concealed target.
Level 10: Weaponmaster
Level 11: Weaponmaster
Level 12: Weaponmaster
Feat: Increased Multiplier (automatic), Iron Will
Stat Increase: Strength
Increase Multiplier is the reason people splash at least 5 levels of weapon master. It increases the critical hit multiplier on your weapon of choice (light flail) from X2 to X3. You will now do more damage when you land a critical hit.
Iron Will, This feat will raise your will save by 2 and will qualify you for Legendary Will later which will raise your will save by another 7.
Level 13: Weaponmaster
Level 14: Weaponmaster
Feat: Ki Critical (automatic)
Ki Critical is the reason people splash at least 7 levels of weapon master. It increases the critical range of your weapon of choice (in this case light flail) to its maximum possible critical range (with a keened weapon). You will land critical hits more of the time.
Level 15: Fighter
Feats: Feat: Power Attack , Improved Critical (Light Flail)
Power Attack , Gives user an attack mode that increases damage done at the cost of attack bonus. For our purposes we are taking it for two other reasons. Power attack is one of several feats needed to qualify for Devastating Critical and it is the prerequisite feat for Improved Power Attack (which adds an additional 5% to Whirlwind attack affliction)
Improved Critical (Light Flail), Increases the critical range on your weapon. Stacks with Ki Critical and Keen to give you the highest possible critical range for the weapon you are using.
Level 16: Fighter
Stat Increase: Strength
Level 17: Fighter
Feat: Improved Parry
Improved Parry, taking this feat will grant your character a token in legendary levels with the Greater Parry ability on it. This token can be used once per rest and will grant your character absolute immunity for approximately 18 seconds. This can be used to get your character out of dangerous situations or be used in other creative ways. For example, a player could turn this ability to make sure they don’t die suddenly at the end of a boss fight.
Level 18: Fighter
Feat: Cleave
Cleave, allows your character to make an additional attack, after landing a killing blow, to a nearby monster. This can increase your overall damage output per round or can be detrimental if the monster you are “cleaving onto” is something you’d rather not hit. Good or bad it is a qualifying feat for devastating critical.
Level 19: Fighter
Feat: Improved Power Attack
Improved Power Attack, gives user an attack mode that increases damage at the cost of attack bonus. Generally not that useful in a high magic world such as Higher Ground, so it should not be taken on most melee builds. For those with a fighter control class, this feat will grant an additional 5% physical affliction to your whirlwind attacks (for a total of 15%), so its well worth investing in in this case.
Level 20: Fighter
Stat Increase: Strength
Epic Levels
Level 21: Fighter
Feat: Great Cleave, Great Strength 1
Great Cleave, usually this feat is not taken by non assassin melee classes. This feat is similar to cleave except that you can keep cleaving after the initial cleave. For example, if you kill a foe and cleave and land a large damage attack and instantly kill that foe as well, you can get another free attack on another monster around you. Semi useful since you are capable of large amounts of damage in a single critical hit. Mainly we are taking it as a qualifying feat for devastating critical.
Great Strength 1, Great Strength feats will increase the overall attack bonus and damage output of your character. Every 2 points of strength your character has will raise your characters AB by 1.
Level 22: Rogue
Spend Skill points: 25 Tumble, 25 Parry, and 25 UMD
Level 23: Fighter
Level 24: Fighter
Feat: Great Strength 2, Overwhelming Critical (light flail)
Stat Increase: Strength
Overwhelming Critical (light flail), This feat will normally increase the critical hit range on your weapon on higher ground. However, this increase will not stack with the weapon master Ki Critical feat. For our purposes we are only taking it because it qualifies us for the devastating critical feat.
Great Strength, Great Strength feats will increase the overall attack bonus (AB) and damage output of your character. Every 2 points of strength your character has will raise your characters AB by 1.
Level 25: Fighter
Level 26: Fighter
Feat: Devastating Critical (light flail)
Devastating Critical, on higher ground adds an additional critical hit multiplier to the weapon you are focused in. This is the final “weapon altering” feat in the build completing the transformation of a lowly 18-20 X2 weapon into a 10-20 X4 weapon. Hitting stingers in the desert with a Dis flail I was landing critical hits over 500 damage on 50% of my hits.
Level 27: Fighter
Feat: Great Strength 3
Great Strength, Great Strength feats will increase the overall attack bonus (AB) and damage output of your character. Every 2 points of strength your character has will raise your characters AB by 1.
Level 28: Fighter
Feat: Epic Weapon Focus (light flail)
Stat Increase: Strength
Epic Weapon focus(light flail), gives you an additional +2 ab with light flails and qualifies you for the Legendary Weapon Focus (light flail) feat.
Level 29: Fighter
Level 30: Fighter
Feats: Epic Skill Focus (Parry), Epic Prowess (change to strength with scry option)
Epic Skill Focus (Parry), Fighters cannot gain a non-item based critical hit immunity even if they are dedicated strength meleers. Parry then becomes our only means to escape death by critical hits. Unfortunately with a low dexterity score and use of heavier armor types (medium and heavy) we will need the extra 10 points to base parry this feat will provide. Additionally Parry provides this build with an additional layer of non-reducible concealment against all attacks (Parry skill/4% concealment).
Epic Prowess, In this case we are not taking this feat for its usual attack bonus enhancing property. Rather immediately after taking our level we will use the player scry (the small magnifying glass in your inventory) and choose the “I want to make changes to my character” option. You will then opt to convert your Epic Prowess feat to a point of strength.
Level 31: Fighter
Level 32: Fighter
Feat: Epic Prowess (change to strength with scry option)
Stat Increase: Strength

Rather immediately after taking our level we will use the player scry (the small magnifying glass in your inventory) and choose the “I want to make changes to my character” option. You will then opt to convert your Epic Prowess feat to a point of strength.
Level 33: Fighter
Feat: Epic Fortitude
Epic Fortitude, This feat will raise your Fortitude save by 4.
Level 34: Fighter
Feat: Armor Skin
Armor Skin, grants your character an additional 2 AC for the cost of only one feat. Considered a good investment and desirable for almost any melee build.
Level 35: Fighter
Level 36: Fighter
Feat: Toughness, Epic Prowess (change to strength with scry option)
Stat Increase: Strength
Toughness, grants the player 60 hitpoints at level 60 (the equivalent of two great constitution feats), one hit point per level. It is considered a good investment and a good idea to take in any build if you can afford the feat. This feat must be taken before level 40 to gain the full benefits.

Rather immediately after taking our level we will use the player scry (the small magnifying glass in your inventory) and choose the “I want to make changes to my character” option. You will then opt to convert your Epic Prowess feat to a point of strength.
Level 37: Fighter
Level 38: Rogue
Feat: Evasion (automatic)
Evasion, makes reflex damage type attacks less painful (e.g. dragon breath). You take no damage on a successful save instead of the normal half damage.
Level 39: Fighter
Feat: Great Constitution 1, Epic Prowess, Epic Dodge (automatic)
Top off the Discipline and Parry skills at this point
Great Constitution 1, on our initial stat set up we started with an odd amount of constitution. This feat will grant us another 60 hit points at level 60 and will raise our fortitude save by 1.
Epic Prowess, grants you +1 AB at the cost of only one feat. It also qualifies you for the full AB bonus when you take Legendary Weapon Focus (kukri) later.
Epic Dodge, allows you to avoid the first attack in a round of combat. This feat will greatly increase your defensive prowess, so it is very desirable to gain. It is one of the reason people take at least 30 levels of fighter if they are planning a control class fighter build.
Level 40: Rogue
Feat: Uncanny Dodge 1 (automatic)
Stat Increase: Strength
Take 43 points in UMD, Top off Tumble and Parry, Put remainder into Craft Armor
Uncanny Dodge 1, one of the reason people splash 3 rogue levels in builds. When caught flatfooted, if you have this feat, you retain your dexterity armor bonus. So, getting caught flatfooted isn’t as painful.
