I have not posted a build in a very long time. Normally I keep my ideas to myself, but I feel this one is worth sharing, perhaps if only to show how it is possible to make a shieldless, non-CoT, non-Soak damage dealer.

I demied this build last night. It also has every lowbie, uncapped and LL tag.

This build is a glass cannon: all offense and little defense. As such, play style, party support and gear are very important.

Mortal Strike DC @ lvl 60 is currently 55 (Str Arti and 1xD bonuses) and was 54 throughout most of the hell runs. I did not manage to get a Hand of Vecna until after completing Cania.

Insta-kill power does not compare favourably to Minja and the old Maxja, and therefore this build needs constant Greater Restoration buffing. However damage output is extreme. Falchion and WM7 and OC/DC yields a critical range and multiplier of 10-20/x4. In addition, the 2-hander damage bonus is almost 40 hitpoints before immunities are applied. As such, combat dummies take an average of 300-400 damage per hit with peak crits in the range of 550 - 600.

On this Nessus run, I found myself dealing 100+ HP damage per hit each to Brood Serpents and Malebranches (Assassin scabbard deals acid, and both are weakest to Slashing damage). I was also dealing 60s - 70s per hit to PFs.

Let me be clear that this build has zero tanking power. 6 of my 11 deaths were in the initial spawn-in to Asmo, and an additional 2 were in the subsequent fight. Up to that point, in The Rift, Malsheem and The Serpent's Coil I had only 3 deaths (thank you Mr. Superior Magebane, spawning in my lap

).

The only way I have found to be effective with this character is:
1) Kill trash mobs like all other assassins
2) When attacking PFs, Malebs and other nasties, always approach late (after the tanks have been working on them for at least 2 rounds) and from behind or a flanking position.

Also, I carry a variety of Falchions:
- a modified Soulcutter (16 A, C, S & D, 2d12 N & P) which does not heal Superior Firstborns or Spiniarchs, btw
- The Call of Justice
- Midwinter Night
- Brilliant Spray
- Solar-Forged Falchion (not yet usable due to lack of tag).
