I haven't been able to get the new .pl to work at all. It immediately closes. the earlier version, think 1.2b, opens fine, but not the most recent. Is these another library or something else that i need to load to make the new .pl file open correctly? using Vista Business x64 -G Any output when you try to start it in a cmd window? Maybe missing SimleXML or something like that? Have a prototype regexp parser in the works here, but nothing ready to release. Not using windows, so ... - Separ

Did you miss my post Separ? I gave the error the new script is giving Yeah, I did see your post but I have no idea what to do about missing perl-modules under windows. Probably install them from CPAN or something like that ... Just wanted to see if gandoron had the same problems or something different.

Separ,
I'd love to check out your new changes, but could you possibly compile this into an .exe file? I had tremendious difficulty running it with perl in the past ad was quite happy when someone started doing the logger as an exe.

Sorry, but I have no idea how to do that since I don't use windows here. Sidenote: I've just pushed a few more changes to github.

I had a bit of a time getting it running under Windows, but managed it eventually.
- Installed ActivePerl 5.10.x (could not get it working with 5.8.x, nate this may be your syntax problem.) - Used Perl Package Manager (PPM) to install Time-Format package (to get Date::Format) - I think XMLSimple and DateParse were already there, I don't recall. Should be available through PPM if not. - Tk doesn't come pre-installed with AP5.10, so I had to install that package. To do THAT, using the Perl Package Manager, I had to enable an additional repository (http://www.bribes.org/perl/ppm), and then TK was available as a package in PPM to install.
Once I cleared all those hurdles, YAL came up and worked fine.
If I can get around to making a compiled .exe for Windows on a regular basis to parallel development, I'll let the community know.

it seems you have created some "libraries" of your own... do you mind emailing them to me or posting them online somewhere? tjsail33@gmail.com
they are:
strict.pm warnings.pm subs.pm File/Copy.pm Date/Parse.pm Date/Format.pm Tk/ItemStyle.pm Tk/HList.pm Tk/BrowseEnry.pm Tk/LabEntry.pm Tk.pm
the .exe compiler is shooting me errors cause i dont have those...
Thanks, TJ

None of these are own libraries, and most of them were already in use before I first touched the file. Use the Perl Package Manager (PPM, see dirk's post above) to install them.

It's not working. I'm now getting an error "Unsupported Perl version 5.010001" and the compiler then quits out... any insight?

Could someone list all the packages that they have enabled when running this software? I would love to get this working for windows at some point (the new version). Or do you know the packages that are being explicitly called out. See TJ's post.

That is the "exact" description of what happens with me. Vista x64. I am able to run the .pl from .7-1.2b without issues.
Love the new edits, would love to use the software.
