As of right now, I can no longer play NWN effectively. I am able to log on for 10 minutes max and then my whole system crashes. All options are either off or set as low as they can go. I updated my gfx card driver but that did not help. Please help!
Gfx Card: Radeon X1600 OS: Windows but it is being dual booted RAM: 2GB Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33 Ghz

some more description would help. does the crashing occur when standing still at docks without moving? or standing still in the stock campaign? does it always crash after an even occurs or often without any discernible reason?
how is the temperature inside your computer when it crashes?

Crashing occurs while standing in the bank, in a store, on the dock, anywhere no matter what action i am doing.
The temperature is no different than it usually is while i am playing, but by the time i reboot it has cooled down considerably and i can no longer get an accurate reading. It is a laptop and i would describe the temperature over the CPU and GPU as hot to the touch but not burning. A guess based on the normal temperature in OS X while not running any programs i would say about 60 C. Right now it is running at about 45 C or so and i just turned it on.
Every time it crashes, out of habit i feel the temp where the CPU/GPU are and it doesnt feel any different than when the game is successfully playing.
If you know of a temperature logger i would be happy to download that and give you the data after opening NWN and waiting for the inevitable crash to occur.

Does you crash while playing the Original Campaign too?? Try it! It might be a connection issue too.

Anyone know what Ports NWN uses to connect to the computers?
If it is connection could it be that i have 2 routers?

its possible but highly unlikely imo. full system crashes are usually the result of hardware issues, not software (unless its very buggy software, which nwn shouldnt be by now)
do you have any resource-intensive applications besides nwn you can test?

NWN runs fine on all of my other computers (2 more) and i dont have any other resource intensive apps i can test... but i can leave windows booted and running all night and have it downloading lots of info and running multiple windows and running a virus scan and it is fine. I really think its a NWN specific issue.....

what "nwmain.exe" are you using? is it the original one? or one that doesnt need the Dvd to play? It might be your problem if you downloaded a corrupted file or something like that.
try using the one Acaos posted some weeks ago... I tried to find the link but I didnt remember where it is anymore =(

No it's still whole system crashes. Nwn freezes then the screen goes black and then I get the startup ding. I'm thinking about trying to installit on the mac side using a method I found on the bioware forums. If you google "install nwn platinum on mac" the bioware forum should be among the first results.
TJ
NEW INFO: I got my mac side to heat up to about the point NWN does and it hit 70 C on processor.... and typical heat is about 54 C while idle. GPU hit 55 C

I installed NWN using the original Mac Demo and my PC version of diamond. If you want the instructions PM me. but it works.
Not sure about the gfx functionality since i just got it working but i will try a hell run tonight hopefully.
