Tymora watched the ship struggle through the storm as it neared the coastline not far from the town of Ascension. She knew what was going to happen and could do nothing to stop it. So many lives would be lost. Her sister Beshaba had won the coin toss and the ship would be sunk. The unlucky captain would loose his life and so would all his crew. Nothing had been said about the cargo though or its passengers. Those Tymora could save.
The four mercenaries awoke on a beach in a small inlet, the ship they had taken passage on, to take them to the war they had been paid handsomely to take part in, clearly visible, it's hull smashed and useless. A few yards from them sat a beautiful, slender woman warming herself by a camp fire, smiling across at them.
'Come, warm yourselves' she bade them, 'I am Tymora and you have nothing to fear from me for luck smiles upon you this day'
The Godess, Tymora, sat with them for a while and told them they had washed up not far from the town of Ascension and that she had work for them in the town. The gods knew of a tear in the fabric of the realms and that the evil Asmodeus was gathering his armies. These four mercenaries would become hero's, seeking out the fabled Crown of Immortality which would increase the power of each of them immensley and they were to use this new power to help them build an army. This army would become known as Tymora's Mercenaries and work towards keeping the rift closed and defeating the Arch Devil Asmodeus.
This, Tymora told them was their destiny, but there was other work to be done in Ascension. Hero's and Villain's from across Faerun flocked into Ascension daily, seeking out clues to the Crown of Immortality or following vague hints about its location. The four hero's began their work quickly, setting up a temple to Tymora in a nearby abandoned crypt and a camp for themselves in a huge natural cavern in the cliff wall near where they were washed up. They soon began their work in Ascension and became hero's when the crown of immortality was broken and they returned from the abyss triumphant. Filled with the new power of immortalilty these four hero's began building their army.
Hope you like the background story for the guild
Here is the necessary info you need if you want to consider joining us.
1/. Characters tagged in this guild may be of any alignment as higher ground has too many ways in which a characters alignment can be changed. But we do follow the tennants of a Chaotic Good Goddess. Try to reflect this attitude in your interaction with other players on the servers.
2/. All tagged toons must be built with PvP in mind so that they are capable of defending themselves if attacked by other players as well as able to play in the usual runs on the servers. If you ignore this advice then do NOT come complaining when some one comes along and steals half ya cash, inventory, etc.
3/. Once a player is accepted as a guild member they cannot receive a guild tag on any character unless at least one of their characters has beaten a guild member in an arena battle first.
4/. Wanting to be in a Guild to find getting parties easier or completing Hell is NOT a good reason to join Tymora's Mercenaries. People interested in joining us must understand what we are about and want to join us because they like our ideals and what we are doing.
5/. You must have at least one Hell Capable Character to show that you have been around at least long enough to learn the server rules and be aware of how HG works. This does not mean you have to have a Demi God or any particular class or build style, we don't care if it is an unusual build, bog standard forum build or whatever, if you at least have a Tia tag you are eligible.
6/. Tymora's is a fun loving guild but we also love a really good challenge, with this in mind we've decided to add a new element to our requirements to join. Basically if you wish to join us you will be required to show that you are up for a challenge yourself, the way you do this is easy. Simply join us when we call a Tymora's Raid. Our raids are small party Hell Runs where we go and raid a layers of the Hells for fun with no more than 6 people in the group.
Tymora's Raids are rarely organized ahead of time but called as and when a guild member feels like a change from the norm so keep an eye out.
Tymora's Mercenaries are a group of Mercenaries who enjoy a challenge and are available for hire. We are not here to cause trouble or make anyone's life misserable but we will accept any and all contracts from simple scroll making to escorting people through Hell and other runs and even strikes against one guild on behalf of another whether the reason be retribution for some slight, to help start a war, just to see them get a beating or any other reason you can think of. (Unfortunately these strikes have to be restricted to guilds only since it is against server rules to do anything other than PP non guilded players).
Our intention is NOT to go out and cause a boat load of trouble on the server but rather use these contracts as a way to add a little extra fun into HG in a different way than constant runs. With this in mind we would not accept requests for contracts that blatantly are outside HG rules or would require us to break any HG Rules.
Although the idea is to charge for our services we are not here to make some quick, easy cash or snag a gut load of burs for ourselves since all of our members will have access to Hells and other areas we have no problem in obtaining these things ourselves anyway. All payments received for servics rendered will be put into our guild bank to be used as prizes for server events we would host from time to time. We will keep an inventory of our 'payments' so that anyone who wishes to check we are indeed keeping the stuff for future events and not lining our pockets can do so by request.
As our guild worships Tymora, the Lady Luck, our members are predominantly Chaotic Good in nature (although our characters may not be) and will refuse contracts if we deem them to be of too evil in nature. We are here to have fun and mebbe a laugh but not to help others bully or intimidate anyone.
Our members are expected to stand up for themselves and look out for one another and their paying customer, if you insult one of us you insult us all. We are looking for leaders not followers. If you are interested in learning more or in joining us please pm me on these boards or come find me or any of our members in game and ask. There is a probationary period of at least one month before we would consider accepting anyone as a member while we get to know you and you should take this time to party with us and learn about us too.
