This is a rehash of an old concept with new changes in mind. A rogue AA allows for strong ranged attacks using AA bows, adding on sneak attack damage, and also the ability to pick any lock and disarm any trap in the game.
My preferred race for this build is Undying (Elf, +2 all stats, +4 Dex, Luck of Heroes, Dodge, Lightning Reflexes, Great Fortitude, Iron Will, +3 skillpoints/LL), but I'll also give info for an "empty" race (assume no stat or feat or skill bonuses) which makes it easy to adjust the build for ANY subrace. Those playing non-Undying, please see the "Changes for Empty Subby" summary at the end.
Undying Starting Stats:
Dex 16->20
Int 18->20
Con 12->14
(on character creation, set Dex to 18 and Con to 10)
Other Starting Stats:
Dex 18
Int 16
Con 12
All stat points into Dex
Level progression: 1 Ro/1 Wiz/7 Ro/7 AA/24 Ro
(seven AA levels pre-epic to get 4th attack)
(b means taken as a Rogue bonus feat)
7 General + 1 Bonus
1) Bullheaded (Discipline) --- Strong Soul (empty subby)
2) Weapon Focus: Longbow
3) Point Blank Shot
4) Rapid Shot
5) Improved Critical: Longbow
6) Blindfight
7) Toughness --- Skill Focus: Disable Trap (empty subby)
8b) Improved Evasion
13 Epic
1b) Defensive Roll
2) Epic Dodge --- Great Dexterity I (empty subby)
3) Great Dexterity I --- Great Dexterity II (empty subby)
4b) Slippery Mind
5) Great Dexterity II --- Great Dexterity III (empty subby)
6b) Skill Mastery
7) Great Dexterity III --- Great Dexerity IV (empty subby)
8b) Self Concealment I --- Epic Dodge (empty subby)
9) Self Concealment II --- Self Concealment I (empty subby)
10) Self Concealment III --- Self Concealment II (empty subby)
11b) Self Concealment IV --- Self Concealment III (empty subby)
12) Epic Weapon Focus: Longbow
13b) Self Concealment V --- Self Concealment IV (empty subby)
7 Legendary
1) Legendary Luck --- Hardened Soul (empty subby)
2) LSA Discipline --- Self Concealment V (empty subby)
3) Legendary Weapon Focus: Longbow
4) Epic Prowess
5) Great Dexterity IV --- Epic Skill Focus: Search (empty subby)
6) Great Dexterity V
7) Great Dexterity VI
Skills
With such high Intelligence, you get a LOT of skill points. Not only that, Undying and Rogue both give you an additional 60 skill point in Legendary Levels. In total, you get 905 skill points as Undying, enough to max 14 skills in all (with 26 points left over for whatever). An empty race would get two less skills. The *ed skills I feel are absolutely necessary for this build. Non-Undying races I would drop two skills from the set of: Craft Armor, Craft Weapon, Set Trap, Craft Trap, Concentration, Pick Pocket. Anyways, my top 15 choices:
1. Tumble*
2. UMD*
3. Open Lock*
4. Disable Trap*
5. Set Trap (AT LEAST 5 ranks for the synergy bonus to Disable Trap) (futureproof!)
6. Craft Trap (futureproof!)
7. Parry*
8. Hide*
9. Listen
10. Search*
11. Craft Weapon
12. Craft Armor
13. Discipline (cross-class for non-Undying)
14. Concentration (cross-class, to avoid disarm checks in Hell and futureproofing)
15. Pick Pocket (with leftover skill points)
The Numbers
Stats below are given for Undying. Empty races just subtract one point for Final Dexterity, AB, and AC (due to starting with two less Dexterity).
Attacks per Round
7 attacks per round (4 base, +1 haste, +1 rapid shot, +1 AA bow)
Final Dexterity
62 = 20 (base) + 10 (lvlup) + 10 (LL) + 6 (feats) + 12 (items) + 4 (LL rogue)
26 stat modifier
AB
96 = 26 (BAB@L40) + 12 (LBAB) + 1 (WF) + 2 (EWF) + 3 (LWF) + 1 (Epic Prowess) + 26 (dex) + 20 (items) + 1 (Craft Weapon) + 4 (AA's Enchant Arrow)
94 w/ Rapid Shot
AC
120 = 10 (base) + 26 (dex) + 15 (robes) + 2 (gird) + 12 (tumble) + 17 (nat) + 17 (defl) + 20 (dodge) + 1 (Craft Armor)
137 w/ BUR +14 Tower Shield and no girding
Saves
Undying: F 57 / W 54 / R 79
Empty: F 56 / W 53 / R 72
(with Slippery Mind you get rerolls on all Will saves)
Skill Checks
Open Lock, needless to say, will hit 127 easily due to your high Dexterity. At level 60, you'll need only 33 points from items (32 Undying) to max it.
Undying Disable Trap/Search
126 = 63 (base) + 50 (items) + 11 (Int) + 2 (misc)
Misc is from either Set Trap synergy or from Elven Skill Affinity (Search). 126 is one under the 127 cap; however, you don't need 127 until Nessus, by which point you're a Demi, so your DC goes up to 127 anyways! Unfortunately, you won't be able to find the hidden loot in Nessus until you Demi.
Empty Disable Trap/Search
127 or 134 = 63 (base) + 50 (items) + 9 (Int) + 2 (misc) + 3 or 10 (Skill Focus)
Again, Misc is either from the Set Trap synergy, or Elven Skill Affinity (Search). Max before picks/d20 is 127, so the 134 is "fake" and actually counts as 127. Disable Traps is at 127, Search at 134.
Craft Trap
Craft Trap is an Intelligence skill. As Undying, you'll be able to max it after double-demi with Int artifact, as an empty subrace you'll have to find an extra two skill points somehow, either by boosting Int or getting a feat or something. Hope that you can let Wizzys do the crafting for ya.
Play Strategy aka Sneak Attacks
Though you're an archer, you don't want to stay too far back. You need to get within 30ft of the mob you're shooting to get sneaks in. For enemies that are sneak immune, stay as far back as you'd like. If things get dicey, switch to a shield and sling to boost your AC significantly. With Epic Dodge and good conceal, you make an awesome impromptu Dex tank (and with a sling you still get half-decent AB). You get three Imbue Arrows a day, basically a fireball effect. You can't use these on allies, but you can use them on items on the ground. These are good for breaking Epic Walls in emergencies.
Changes for Empty Subby
Basically you start with lower Dex and Int compared to Undying. This means you have to re-order your feats (ie get enough Great Dex before you qualify for Epic Dodge), as well as pick up Skill Focus feats to make up for the low Int mod. Depending on which subby you choose, you could possibly change a few things, such as taking Epic Dodge earlier (if you get Dex) or dropping the Skill Focus feats (if you get bonus Int). Just test it out first in the test chamber or using the CBC, as Rogues don't get Great Dex as a bonus feat (tragic isn't it?). Also, as a Half-Elf you'll get +1 Search only and no Keen Senses, but you'll gain one more skill.
Summary (for Undying)
o Keen Senses (make Search checks for Hells hidden loot without detect mode)
o 7 attacks/round
o 96 AB (94 actually, with Rapid Shot active)
o Skill Mastery reduces Hell's skill penalties to 1/3rd
o Unlock/disarm everything
o 120 AC (139 AC max pre-demi with BUR Shield + Girding)
o Saves F57/W54/R79
o Slippery Mind and Improved Evasion allow rerolls on all Will and Reflex Saves
o Epic Dodge
o 64% concealment (40% vs Blindfight)
o high damage from AA bows and Sneak Attack (+16d6)
o Sneak Attacks at 30ft, +1 AB (PBS) at 15ft
o makes best use of traps and trap-makers when the new ones are released (futureproof!)
o Concentration (futureproof!)
