The elementalblade would be a mediocre tank with substantial damage capability. There will be five paths for the elemental blade to take - depending on which resistance to energy feat he has taken: (Acid, Cold, Electrical, Fire, or Sonic)
Reqs:
Abilities: Dex 25+
Feats: Weapon Focus in any slashing weapon (With the exception of rapier, which is also included as a weapon choice when becoming an eleblade). The resistance to energy feat and epic energy resist in their chosen elemental path.
Requires level 20 fighter and the above requirements must be fulfilled by level 24. If more than one resistance is taken, the first feat listed alphabetically will be used in determining the eleblade type.
When using the fighter's warrior's whetstone, the old properties will be replaced with new ones: (Elementalblade level/2)d6 damage in their choosen element.
- The total damage able to be inflicted per hit, as a level 60 pure elemental blade, would be 180, but of course damage will only average half that and thats not counting monster damage immunity or resistance.
- Also take into account many spawns will be completely immune to the element choosen by the elementalblade, making the ability very useful in some situations versus damage vulnerablity or non-immune or resisting mobs, and other times nearly useless. (The following ability is intended to help with this.)
Elemental Permeation: A small percentage of the elemental damage the blade would have dealt will penetrate immunity and resistance versus mobs who are completely immune to their element of choice. This percentage scales with elementalblade level:
Fighter Level 40: 7%
Fighter Level 45: 9%
Fighter Level 50: 11%
Fighter Level 55: 13%
Fighter Level 60: 15%
Elemental Warding (Elementalblade Level 40 required)
A damage shield is applied dealing (Elementalblade level/4)d8 damage of the element chosen as kickback to attacking mobs. It also will add 50% immunity to their element of choice.
-I think these would be sweet if they were given some nice vfx - for example, fireblades warding could give them an orange glow and combust vfx? Coldblades could maybe have a blue glow and leave a trail of smoke as they run?
Elemental Repulsion (Requires Greater Knockdown)
The elementalblade is able to send out a pulse attack dealing (elementalblade level/2)d6 damage of his chosen elements to all mobs within a medium range and also has the ability to knockdown all enemies. The knockdown DC goes off the standard fighter ability greater knockdown and using of this ability drains one of the three uses.
- This quasi is aimed at getting some more Dex tanks back in action. To me, this seems like an interesting alternative to standard tanks - people could make fireblades to take down uroboros, or coldblades which would be useful against many spawns in hells, etc.
