Spellsword
+requirements; to be met before reaching epic levels.
-14 levels of wizard
-5 levels of champion of torm
-weapon focus: longsword
upon acquiring the spellsword status (at level 19 or 20), the character receives:
-a magical scabbard, fit only for a longsword.
-weapon specialization: longsword
The Scabbard:
There are 10 "spellslots" on the scabbard. Casting a spell on the scabbard will store the spell in an empty slot. (using the scabbard will initiate a dialog, allowing the spellsword to empty slots and view their occupation.)
after having cast Magic Weapon on his own longsword (which adds the necesary enchantments, ie intelligent weapon...), the spellsword will be able to cast the stored spells using the simtools commands
!sword 1
!sword 2
...
!sword 0
as 1 time "on hit" effects, called swordspells.
all spells use wizard levels + champion of torm levels + legendary levels (if the spellswords control class is wizard or champion of torm) to calculate casterlevel. DCs for swordspells use strength modifier instead of intelligence modifier. normal spells use intelligence. spellpenetration is only of importance when casting normal spells.
example;
after having memorized 2 copies of the fireball spell, the spellsword casts fireball on the scabbard and magic weapon on his longsword. the fireball spell was stored in the first slot.
he types !sword 1 and the sword is charged with the fireball spell after draining his last normal use of fireball.
the next time he hits a target, the spell is cast as a swordspell.
he has just acquired his spellsword status with 14 wizard levels and 6 CoT. including spellpenetration feats, his spellpenetration is 24 and his casterlevel 20. with 34 strength, the DC for this level 3 spell is 25. the spellsword does not have any focus feats...
arcane wrath;
instead of divine wrath, a spellsword gains arcane wrath which uses wizard+cot level isntead of just cot (including LLs if the characters control class is wizard or cot). the damage bonus is halved and its type becomes magic damage. the soak is removed, but spellresistance is added (spellsword level +15). the duration in rounds is equal to twice the character's intelligence modifier at spellsword level 20, three times at 35, 4 times at 50, and 5 times the character's intelligence modifier at 60.
additional uses are granted at champion of torm level 15, 25, 35 and 45 (up to 5 uses per day). at 40 spellsword levels, NOT including legendary levels, the spellsword is also granted an additional attack.
