This Quasi-Class is three concepts in one:
1. A strength Bard
2. A fictionalized theme based on a historical theme
3. A paragon class for the Chaotic family of alignments what Paladin is to Fighter/Lawful Good and Blackguard is to Fighter/Evil, the Warrior-Poet is to Barbarian/Chaotic.
Part of the purpose is to create a Quasi-Class that is both challenging and entertaining to play.
Description
The Warrior-Poet is the ultimate hero of those Peoples who most cherish freedom and individuality. He is not only a storied Barbarian, but also a deep-minded poet. His wit, wisdom, and hypnotic lyricism is matched only by his intense savagery and lust for battle. Above all, he is vocal. Allies cannot help but to be inspired by his mere presence in their group.
The Warrior-Poet is in no sense a mage, but he most certainly is a mystic.
He articulates the chaotic depths of barbarian lore to the empowerment of allies, rather than codifying the arcane matrix to effect a more material result. The cracking sound and crimson mist of hammer to enemy skull on a sunlit plain are to him what arcane characters in a dusty tome in a dark, candle-lit room are to the mage. As such, his ability to cast spells is limited to say the least.
Requirements for Warrior-Poet status:
15 lvls barbarian
11 lvls bard
1 lvl druid
18 base wisdom and charisma
10 ranks intimidate
10 ranks perform
8 ranks lore
by level 28
Benefits upon attaining Warrior-Poet status
Utter Fearlessness
At lvl 28, the Warrior-Poet is immune to all forms of fear.
At lvl 40, all party members within a 10 foot radius are immune to all forms of fear.
Battle Hymn
The Warrior-Poet is constantly exhorting his brothers in battle through the shouting of rousing war-crys and chanting stirring battle songs- starting with a deeply inspiring speech prior to battle that enters his fellow warriors into a state of exhilaration and mental clarity, forging in them an unbreakable will to acheive victory.
+(Character lvl /5) Will Save (max 12/min 1) [[alternate: party will saves are rolled against WP Wis or Cha Modifier or some balanced fraction thereof]]
+(Wisdom modifier /2) str (max 12/min 1)
+(Wisdom modifier /5) con (max 12/min 1)
The Battle Hymn affects all party members within a 30 feet radius. Feats which affect Bard Song, affect "Battle Hymn" in the exact same way.
Battle Hymn and Bard Song cannot be performed simultaneously by the same character.
Master of the Wyrding Way
The Warrior-Poet receives an AC bonus equal to his wisdom modifier, but subject to the same armor/shield penalties as dexterity bonus to AC.
Invocation of The Overwolf
(mass Mighty Rage)
Achieved upon reaching lvl 50.
Once per day the Warrior-Poet is given a Mighty Rage use that affects party members within a 30 feet radius. The duration of the rage is equal to the Warrior-Poets Wisdom modifier in turns.
Spells:
Some spells, listed below, use Bard level + Barbarian level
(including legendary levels if the character's control class is Bard or Barbarian) to calculate caster levels.
Dirge, Healing Circle, Improved Heroism, Wail of Doom, War Cry, Joyfull noise, Shock and awe, scare, Mass Mind Blank.
Bard Song Changes
If the character has more levels of barbarian than bard: half of the Warrior-Poets levels are as Bard levels for the purpose of calculating song bonuses.
If the character has more levels of bard than barbarian: 2/3 of the Warrior Poets levels are as Bard levels for the purpose of calculating song bonuses.
The required Skill Ranks for Bard Song are the same as standard Bard Song, however these ranks must be split equally between Intimidate and Perform. The Warrior-Poet has no curse.
************************
Conclusion-
I hope I didn't mess this up too bad.
***Enough Bard for Song to be effective without an actual bard, but not so effective that an actual bard is not absolutely preferable to handle the bard role.
***I tried to scatter requirements enough to make for a quasi-class that isn't over powered. Being a Barbarian, this character is going to want to be strong, but also has to factor in charisma and wisdom to get the full benefits of the class.
***Barbarian LL bonuses are still there but not enough for this Quasi-Class to replace pure-barb. The max barb bonus level is 48. That means losing a good bit of barb ability, damage resistance, rage (etc) bonuses to take the quasi-class.
Maybe not entirely feasible to implement, but fun to put together none the less.
