I recently downloaded the HG Char pack to my linux server and installed it into the portraits folder. And upon loading NWN and going through the process of building a new char I get the attached screen . Many of the images are white instead of the desired char images. I loaded the same files onto a windows machine and it loads all of the pictures correctly (copied via ftp pull from the windows box) I used gimp on one of the images and simply loaded the image and then saved the image. It worked. I then used imagmagik's mogrify command to apply a very mild sharpening effect to the entire series of images which it did happily with the exception of a couple images. The intent here was to process the entire collection of images with a very mild effect, and then resave them ...dropping whatever bad data they had picked up in the first place. I then reloaded NWN and I'm still not getting the images to all show up at once. I'm not sure what the problem here really is. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Attachments:

Is it always the same images which are white, or different ones each time?

Same ones.
Now i can open one image in say gimp and just save that one image and it corrects the problem for that one image. But were talking hundreds of images. And this problem does seem to be a linu-xcentric or nwn linux related issue.
I have also re-downloaded the entire pack with the same results. So I'm thinking that "data" was introduced "upstream". I've tried to use Gimp to batch edit the entire collection however the batch plugin for gimp has "issues" and cant do all of the images.
I have some ideas to split up the archive into sections and process each section. But wanted to ask here before I dedicated a few hours of my time to fixin these images.

I fixed this by running the 'fixinstall' utility that comes with the linux binaries after installing the pack. Part of what it does is rename all the images to be all-lowercase, which seems to fix the problem for most of them. There are still a few corrupt images, tho (those that are still corrupt don't appear white, tho....they appear weird).
This mess may be caused by different-sized versions of the same images having differing case, but I'm not sure.

P.S. I also at least used to use the 'view-only' hak as well (don't know if I still have it installed), to alleviate problems viewing the portraits of other players for this exact reason. This whole mess makes me wish that one of the biggest features of NWN2 had made it to NWN1 - the ability to load the module (and therefore the HAKs) before character creation.

You could try using 'mogrify -type TrueColor *.tga' and see if that fixes it with ImageMagick.

Thanks guys, I rand the fixinstall and the truecolor and all but 3 or 4 of the files now show up properly.
