PC was taken pre-epic and pre-epic feats... meh. I guess maybe blind fight?
I thought about ESF: LIsten but with high wis as it is it seemed a bit of a waste, but maybe not. But I'm not sure waht i'd take instead. I don't think i've ever had a build where i wasn't short on feats before.
And you did notice the SC.... you suggested i remove it =P
sorry I guess I forgot! lol glad you listened. Didn't notice the missing blind fight. That is an auto miss 50% of the time from some testing, so yeah I consider that a must (but can be taken as a pandect thus leaving you LSF:listen if you want both)
BAH to CA vs CW.... swapping back to CA as that's why i had it originally and got confused...
Does BF make that large a difference when you have a maxed listen?
Blind fight This feat grants the character the ability to fight well, even if blinded or against invisible creatures. The character gets to re-roll its miss chance percentile one time to see if it actually hits. Furthermore, invisible creatures get no bonus to hit the character in melee. # The "ability to fight well" includes negating the -4 to attack rolls that is normally incurred when fighting blind. However, this feat does not negate the -4 to attack rolls against invisible creatures. # The bonus to attack that invisible creatures normally get is +2. This same bonus is also normally given to creatures attacking a blind creature. Both sources of this bonus are negated when the target has blind fight. This feat prevents one from being caught flat-footed by a hidden attacker. It does not, however, negate any other condition for being caught flat-footed.
Essentially, just don't get blinded and you should be fine. UEF or dex arti is your friend, and with UEF you won't get deafened and lose your Listen bonus (unless there are specially scripted nasties that ignore deafness immunity or lower listen some other way).
question about the wis modifier. It generates +enhancement bonus (gloves already have +attack). I was under the impression that I needed +enhancement to pierce DR, but had a conversation recently where the other party thought that +attack was sufficient to pierce DR and +enhancement just added phys damage on top.
As I understand it (without the benefit of actually having tested it yet), all of the following sources of extra fist monk damage will stack: STR mod bonus, WIS mod bonus, HG special monk level-based bonus.
The language from the wiki seems to deal with gloves that have bonus physical damage (which AFAIK don't exist in high-level HG play). Unless the HG code gnomes have circumvented the limitation, that bonus physical damage wouldn't stack with the WIS-based enhacement.
However, an enhancement bonus does not stack with an item's attack bonus, nor with an item's damage bonus when the damage bonus is of the same damage type as the weapon's base damage.
What this means is following: the bonus to your AB is not the AB bonus of the weapon plus the enhancement bonus, it's the maximum of these.
Physical bonus damage to weapons (like +2d12 piercing for a DB bastard sword) only works if that damage is not of the same type as the base damage, e.g. piercing or bludgeoning would work for a bastard sword, slashing wouldn't.
I haven't redone my monk to get the +15/16 wis mod yet but the main problem I encounter is the Dis gloves have fire meaning you cant use them against P2/3 Pit Fiends and the Stygia ones are slashing and lack cold iirc.....so every time you encounter a P2/3 PF you have to use cold gloves at +14 which means the PF soaks 30-35 a hit or the slashing ones where they have 70%+ to slashing....meaning your probably barely beating his regen rate and getting them past barely wounded by yourself will take quite awhile... This of course probably doesn't bother most people but it bothers me a lot as, IMHO, a fist monks #1 job is to dispatch Pit Fiends-(and all other crit immune mobs)-quickly.
