We're looking to add a few more subraces, for classes and quasis that don't already have something 'tailor-made', to round out and balance the options. It's been pointed out that theurges, for example, don't really have their own sub, and the forthcoming gnomish inventors will need one as well. Suggestions welcome!

For the Gnomish Inventor, I noticed the best subrace at the moment was the Half Fiend.
Half-Fiend (BUR) * +6Dex +4Con +4Int -2Cha -2Wis +6 Hide, +6 Move Silently, SR 10+1/lvl, Strider
Given that most BUR races average at about +10 in stats when you add and subtract the differences here is my suggestion.
Arcane Gnome. Gnome Only. +4/6 Dex +2 Con. +4/6 Int. -2 Cha. (maybe male/female variant on the dex/int)
Fast - it has a lot of support capabilities or abilities that require good placement, and if not wiz CC doesn't have super fast Expeditious Retreat. Maybe even make it Very Fast (Shard speed?)
Because the gnome base race gets an absurd amount of skill points, rogue CC gets bonus skill points, and wizards get bonus feats/5lvl as well as your absurdly high Intelligence from Wiz Spells...I find it really difficult to find something other than WF/EWF Crossbow or SF Ench/ESF Ench(or Trans) that would benefit an Inventor race to the point it would be the optimum pick. But I also feel like it could be overpowered because feats/skills are so easy to come by.

Another quasi-class that could need a new subrace would be Herald of Storm. Right now most Heralds I know use Half-Celestial which causes up to 40% xp penalty.

Negatai is almost a useless race, would be nice to see it get cleave or something to allow for a saves based built. Otherwise, Genie really has the upper hand.
Is there a threader designed subby? A BK based subby would be interesting as well, might also for for pariah/bfm (in particular str based), depending on feats.

Thanks for the thoughts, all. We'd especially appreciate statting suggestions like SoC's. Funky

Idea for STR based medium toons that want to maximize the AB. highergroundpoa.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=ideassubrace&thread=16698Alternatively, salamander could take a half-salamander appearance or something like that, much like genies have one use transformation to human appearance so that the subrace was usable by dual wielders with animation and without looking so ugly Gonna come back later and edit this post for different ones.

It is but there is no BUR option that doesn't allow you to maximize stats, though yes currently this is the best option probably.

Some large sized toons which are suited for classes which are capable 2-handers so that Merc Great Sword and Lance actually might get some real use.
The only classes I can think of off hand capable of tanding up with out added AC from shield are Champion of Torm or very high CHA Paladin and Blackguard relying on Divine Shield for AC.
Base Race: Any +4 STR +6 CHA -2 DEX +2 WIS Extra Turning Size: Large
I don't know a good appearance or name of a race myself. Other class aims which might work for this would be a STR based uni SD maybe a fighter but would rely on others for buffs and need mord/breach imm. Then a SM not using a staff would work for good Merc Great Sword or Lance wielder. I think those are more feasible on current Large subs than a CoT, Pally, or BG.

It is but there is no BUR option that doesn't allow you to maximize stats, though yes currently this is the best option probably. In that case: Sibylline (secret Beyond UltraRare) Base Race: Elf Wis +6, Int +6, Con -2, Cha -2, free feat: Spell Focus: Divination, free feat: Greater Spell Focus: Divination, able to walk on quicksand. No, not terribly creative, but has the RP element and maxes stats. I have trouble thinking outside the bun. -WSCraft

For Theurges, there was a thread dealing it with it some time ago, this. I suggested a subby on it, it was. Chosen of Mystra Any race, Int +2, Wis +6, Cha +2, Spell Penetration, Greater Spell Penetration, SR 10%+1%/lvl, Great fortitude. It was meant to bring it closer with parity regular wizards or cleric. With it the penalty from using genie would become the 3 epic feats lost, the smaller hp total from low con (minor) and the loss of levitation on both half-celestial and genie (also minor) and has one small advantage on great fortitude. Final effect, the theurge would have the same maximum DC of a regular wizard or cleric, but with 1 less casting level and 1 more penetration, and have to wizard or cleric opposing class as an added "school". Power flickering, going to turn off comp, more to say later Take care Kaezar
