Now I'm very aware that this is BETA, so if it doesn't work properly...well that's my problem isn't it? But before I give up the ghost just yet, maybe it can be fixed, because it does look good. So I click on HG, and things are changed. Mostly for the good, but there are a a few things that are transperent or in some cases not even there. Now I backed up everything just in case things dont go well, but first of all is there anything that can be done about the transperencies?

I doubt that I can help, but could you give more details. What transparencies are you talking about, the HUD, transparencies, dialog boxes or part of the 3d world? Sometimes there is problems with a white background, normally this around HG specific items and a relog fixes it. However it can also relate to your card/driver and extension limits.
Could you also give the full details of your system, OS, vid card. Any custom mods, did you use ARP, CQ, etc.

The transparencies are deliberate, and part of the optional modified GUI. Download the non-GUI version if you dislike them.

Mostly part of the 3d world, I assume. For example at the top of your screen where it shows your buffs, they are usually surrounded by squares. (see insert) Windows Xp, ATI...no custom mods, no special haks, just simple vanilla. I just looked at the screenshot, and maybe it's supposed to be that way. It might take some getting used to if so is all. Attachments:

The image looks fine to me. all the buffs are separated by empty transparent space. This is largely designed to let you "see through" and not block your view. Most of use prefer this for long term play. As Funky mentioned, you can use the non-GUI version if you prefer the old (black square with yellow border) style.

I play with transparency since I found out about it 2 years(?) ago... really that much better than the other "old" non transparent squares. Anyway, its just a matter of tastes and its easy to change it back, but stay with it

I have been using AmethystDragon's transparent treatment ever since it was pointed out to me that you can "hold down" your cursor over the experience bar after hitting level-up and see how much xp you have banked. This has proven very useful to me.
It didn't take me long to decide that the transparent icons and such are much better (in my opinion) anyway, and I love it.
This is the first I've seen of what this enhanced GUI does and going by your screenie, winlok, I think I would definitely enjoy it.
Time to switch, I think...I'd rather use something community-created than the work of this AmethystDragon person with her (?) penchant for making everything violet.

I haven't used the original GUI in a long time, but one of the nice things about the custom GUI is the different spell colors. In the original they were all the same dull color which made it difficult to tell them apart. In the custom GUI, they are all different colors, which makes it easy to tell at a half-a-glance which spell is which.
