would it be possible to create a sort of gem like the sapphire of sagacity, that allows the cool down timer after reincarnation to decrease with x days. My idea (if it is possible to do at all) would be something like this:
-------------------------------------------------- Diamond of Reincarnation When using this gem on a reincarnated toon, the cool down timer will decrease with x days. This item will have BUR quality and will not stack. ---------------------------------------------------
Maybe dropzone could be a less popular run to increase population there? Or maybe it should drop in the new areas, the Elders, when that get implemented. I am sure there will be loads of reincarnation going on with the new area and lvl 80 release.

I'd like if you could reincarnate immediately, but with an XP penalty corresponding to the duration left on your reincarnation timer. My suggestion would be a penalty of (days left)/3 in percent of the character's XP. That would mean that reincarnating immediately after the reinc week is over would give a 30% penalty, assuming an immo character with 90 day wait period. Each passing day, the penalty is reduced by 0.33%. For a level 60 with 12.5M XP that means waiting one day saves 41667 xp, for a level 80 with 125M XP, waiting one day saves 416667 XP. That would allow fixing a screwed up buid without having to wait months before you can play it again while leaving a good incentive not to reincarnate needlessly before the wait period is up.

This is off-topic but the idea of a reinc-aiding item got me thinking...
It would be cool if such an item allowed -HC- toons to reincarnate.
Probably a stupid idea but I think it would be cool to see some sort of option for -HC- reincarnation tied to a hard-to-get item. My thought process here is mainly tied to the upcoming advent of Elder Evils and Paragon levels--I definitely don't have any toons that would be able to make use of it but I feel like there are others who would probably enjoy being able to reincarnate if possible in order to take advantage of paragon levels without starting new toons.

What does reinc have to do with taking advantage of Paragon levels? Reinc in any form would most likely hinder Paragon level toons as the exp loss even if an item reduced the penalty would hurt them more than anything else.

Just like any new content, it has to do with it because most likely your build wasn't planned for it?
I'd take an xp loss if reinc meant allowing a toon to be rebuilt to take advantage of stuff that didn't exist at the time I drew the build up.
I just mentioned paragon and EE but there are plenty of examples...not being able to reinc when drastic updates come is part and parcel of playing -HC- and I've never heard anyone complain, so it's not a big deal by any means. Was just a thought.

The XP penalty idea has the advantage (some will consider it a disadvantage) that it does not favour old-timers as much who could easily trade for rare items. Let's not increase the gap between haves and have-nots even further.
For -HC-, I can't say I really miss reinc - at least not at the moment. Starting over from scratch is such a fundamental part of HC play that you just Leeroy Hades and see how long you make it if you need to rebuild a toon. Levelling up to 60 again does not that *that* long... however, this may change with Paragon levels. Having to kick a 70+ toon in the HC bucket because of mod changes will hurt.
