-The weapon buff change has been altered. Instead of progressively degrading after a rest or relog, each rest or relog by the caster will halve remaining duration on weapon buffs cast by that caster. Being far away from the weapon will still result in it degrading rapidly. Buff power will no longer degrade, only remaining duration. -Bug and exploit fixes.

please note, that the gmw thing is a logarithmic expression and gmw will always run out fast, no matter how high the caster.
example: 50 level caster, desert run:
- 0min - caster casts gmw, 100 mins remaining. - 10min - first map cleared, mage rests - 45 mins remaining - 20min - 2nd map cleared half way. all those criticals took their toll and mage needs to rest again for more self-buffs. 17 mins remaining. - 30min - end of 2nd. mage, of course, rests. 3 mins left.
buffs gonna round out just as the first implosions start flying on next map.
assuming a desert run lasts 2 hours and it regularly lasts longer, that's not even a 3rd. no real change with a level 60 caster. gmw will run out 3 mins later, even though caster initially put 20 mins more on it.
i really don't understand why so much effort is being put into making sure casters have to renew gmw all the time. is having gmw really that bad?

why not just have the GMW go away if the caster either logs out or leaves the area?

Being far away from the weapon will still result in it degrading rapidly. err ... blonde question, but how does this work/deal with transitionning ? Even when entering a new area at the same time, people reappear on the other side with a different delay.

I got the impression last night that transitioning was causing weap buffs to degrade. Buffer didn't log nor rest. Buffs on PoW lasted fine, then resting & rebuffed, Fox Trail seemed fine, rested & rebuffed, but the next map we cleared quickly on way to Guardians & buffs started degrading quickly in the cave. The time before degradation was definitively significantly shorter as it started degrading on the first mob in the cave, compared to the length of time to clear PoW & Fox Trail.

There is sufficient slack built into the system that ring resting and transition delays should not be a problem.

Actually the point of these changes is to prevent buff-botting. Still what's to stop people from just carrying their bot with them behind the party solely to redo buffs (instead of just buffing once and then replacing them with a real person)? In fact, given the new annoyances of buffing, it would seem to me that people are now encouraged to do buff botting to spare the rest of the casters from having to handle it. Perhaps it would be better to just make it a server rule that buff botting is no longer allowed (or at least supplment these changes with that)?

Seems this update encourages bot buffing rather than discouraging it. The only difference is now the bot has to follow the party around.

Just wanted to add that since buff bots rest less than regular casters, under this new system they are also better buffers than the party casters.

if this is truely to stop buff bots then make a rule instead and put it back the way it was since there is a vast minority of players that 'can' bot and this is effecting everyone, not just the bots.

Curiosity question: If Bhao's above times are correct, does casting the weapon buffs extended change anything?
And how does the use of the extended spell metamagic impact the new system, if at all?
