Almost BUR Bear (Fighter 37 / Paladin 2 / Monk 1)
Build Goals:
Build Goals:
When I set out to create this build my goals were quite ambitious, and like many things in life if you believe in the impossible and work hard at it; you sometimes get close to what you wish for.
- I wanted an open sub-race tank that could give even tricked out BUR sub-race builds a run for their money.
- I wanted very solid defense (A dead tank does no tanking or damage).
- I wanted very early maturity because of the UUU changes on the server.
A new player would receive scant comfort from the fact that he will be able to stand up to Pit Fiends and Malebrache checks when he is double demi as he is screaming “KD” and being beat to death by trash mobs.
In other words I wanted the Moon.
Build Pros
- Huge damage with 10 attacks (Currently 9 as flurry is not working) starting at 97 AB.
- Can Make Both Pit Fiend (Use Amulet of Unbroken Balance until demi x2) and Malebrache checks at Level 60 as an Immortal.
- Additional Damage boost from Strength, Warrior’s Wet Stone, Weapon specialization and Power attack for +36 damage to each attack.
- Unslaggable Nunchucks.
- Very good Saves.
- High AC 131 dual wielding or 140 with a shield pre-demi.
- Secondary conceal from Advanced Defense of 31%.
- Epic Dodge.
- Designed to surpass all expectations in even the deepest areas of the Mod.
- Extremely gear flexible.
- Artifact level poison immunity from Constitution artifact.
- Paladin saves and fear immunity.
- Optional 5 rounds of invincibility per rest using Greater Parry.

If you are new to NWN as well as New to Higher ground please take a look at the "Notes for very new players" which is the forth post in this thread.
Optional:
If you are able to acquire a Blood of Uroboros
(This should not be too tough as it regularly sells in the market chests):
Then I would strongly suggest drinking it to get the Cleave feat and then instead taking Cleave at level 16 take Greater Weapon Specialization and substitute Improved Power attack at level 18 for Weapon Focus Throwing Axes.

During character creation please take special care when entering your subrace:
Select Race
Click Human
Click on Subrace and type exactly Bugbear (not BUGBEAR or bUGBEAR or Bug Bear or MugBear etc.)
During character creation please make sure to take Fighter at Level 1 as well as the Alignment and Feats listed below:
Fighter (This will be the primary class of your build, the other classes you will take are used to round out your abilities as will be explained later)
Select Alignment
Lawful Good (This is important as it will enable you to take both Paladin and Monk levels without needing to change your alignment)
*Note: Think twice before killing neutral creatures or joining Rona, POM, or Elysium runs as these will change your alignment and cause you to lose you saving throw bonuses from the Paladin levels you are taking.
Select Abilities:
On the Feats Page, Select the following feats:
Blooded (What this feat does): This feat enables you to take Legendary Skill Affinity Tumble which in turn will allow you to use skill points in Tumble as if it was a class skill.
*Note - (The vanilla Neverwinter Nights version does the following): The character gains a +2 bonus on initiative and a +2 bonus on spot checks.
Weapon Finesse (What this feat does): A character with this feat is adept at using light weapons subtly and effectively, allowing him to make melee attack rolls with his dexterity modifier instead of strength (if his dexterity is higher than his strength.)
Weapon Proficiency (Exotic) (What this feat Does): This feat allows effective use of all exotic weapons. The exotic weapons list includes the bastard sword, dire mace, dwarven waraxe*, double axe, kama, katana, kukri, scythe, shuriken, whip*, and two-bladed sword.
The Build:
When you see the level up icon appear over your character's portrait, please make sure you are in a safe place before leveling. I have seen many deaths where a newer player just started leveling their character while a battle was raging around them.

- Weapon Focus (nunchaku) A character with this feat is particularly skilled with a specific weapon, gaining a +1 attack bonus with it.
3 Fighter
- Iron Will The character's strong presence of mind gives him a +2 bonus to all will saving throws.
4 Fighter (Dexterity +1)
- Ambidexterity When fighting with two weapons, this feat reduces the penalty of the off-hand weapon by 4.
5 Fighter
6 Fighter
- Great Fortitude A character with this feat is tougher than normal, gaining a +2 bonus to all fortitude saving throws.
- Greater Weapon Focus (nunchaku) HG Enhanced Feat - Greater Weapon Focus feats require Weapon Focus in the specified weapon and add +1 to your AB with that weapon.
7 Fighter
8 Fighter (Dexterity +1)
- Power Attack A character with this feat can make powerful but ungainly attacks. When power attack is selected, it grants a +5 bonus to the damage roll, but at the cost of -5 to the attack roll.
9 Fighter
- Improved Critical (nunchaku) Combat ability increases the critical threat range of a selected weapon by a range equal to the item's base threat range. A longsword that normally threatens a critical on a roll of 19-20 would now threaten a critical on a roll of 17-20.
10 Fighter
- Weapon Specialization (nunchaku) A character with this feat has trained especially hard with a specific weapon type, and gains a +2 damage bonus when using these weapons in combat.
11 Fighter

- Two-Weapon Fighting A character with this feat reduces the penalties suffered when fighting with two weapons. The normal penalty of -6 to the primary hand and -10 to the off-hand becomes -4 for the primary hand and -8 for the off-hand. The ambidexterity feat further reduces the attack penalty for the second weapon by 4 (to -4/-4). Best results are achieved if the off-hand weapon is light, further reducing the penalty for both the primary and off-hand by 2 (to -2/-2).
- Improved Two-Weapon Fighting The character with this feat is able to get a second off-hand attack (at a penalty of -5 to his attack roll).
13 Fighter
14 Fighter
- Blind-Fight HG Modified Feat - Blind Fight's implementation has changed, but the effects have not. When swinging at enemies, the conceal you see in the combat log will be the adjusted concealment after Blind Fight and other conceal reduction, rather than the base concealment.
* Note NWN vanilla version:
This feat grants the character the ability to fight well, even if blinded or against invisible creatures. The character gets to re-roll its miss chance percentile one time to see if it actually hits. Furthermore, invisible creatures get no bonus to hit the character in melee.
15 Fighter
- Power Critical (nunchaku) HG Enhanced feat - Power Critical feats require 6 BAB and Weapon Focus in the specified weapon and add +4 to critical confirmation rolls with that weapon.
16 Fighter (Dexterity +1)
- Cleave If the character kills an opponent, he gets a free attack against any opponent who is within melee weapon range.
17 Fighter
18 Fighter
- Great Cleave As cleave, except that there is no limit to the number of additional attacks that the character may make after killing one opponent.
- Improved Power Attack This feat allows the character to trade a -10 penalty on his attack roll to gain a +10 bonus on his damage roll. It is very useful when fighting tough, easy-to-hit opponents.

Your First Demigod!:
First off congratulations, you have accomplished something truly great!
Now it is time to upgrade this build to take advantage of your Demigod status.
Now it is time to upgrade this build to take advantage of your Demigod status.
1. Take only the Great Strength I&II feats use the rest as Dexterity I-VI:
This along with your bonus wisdom and dexterity of +2 from Demi x1 will give a huge bump to your Attack Bonus and Armor Class while still allowing you to make Pit Fiend knock down checks using a Serpents Coil belt which grants +4 to Strength and Dexterity checks.
After reincarnation your AC while dual wielding should be: 136-137
After reincarnation your AB while dual wielding should be: 101-102 enabling you to use power attack on trash monsters for added damage.
After Becoming a Demigod for the Second Time:
1. Change the Great Strength I-II feats for Dexterity VII-VIII:
This along with your bonus wisdom and dexterity of +4 from Demi x2 will give a huge bump to your Attack Bonus and Armor Class while still allowing you to make Pit Fiend knock down checks using a Serpents Coil belt which grants +4 to Strength and Dexterity checks.
After reincarnation your AC while dual wielding should be: 142
After reincarnation your AB while dual wielding should be: 103-104 enabling you to use power attack on most monsters for added damage.
Upgrading your Subrace:
After Achieving Demigod-hood I would strongly urge you to upgrade your subrace.
Given the current drop rate of BUR subraces I doubt it is realistic to start a discussion about them at this point.
My suggestion would be to purchase two Stinger books usually selling in the Market for about 35 million a piece.
Note: This build ended up with close to 600 million gold at Demi x1 without any special effort or gold farming.
Very few changes need to be made to this build when using Stinger:

Enter the Ability scores as shown below:
With the above Ability score distribution you can use this build as is. You will end up with 1 less ac but if you are reincarnating at Demi x1 or x2 the boost to your Armor Class and Attack Bonus will be massive and you will be able to afford more skills due to the adjusted Int 12 after subrace edit , thus I suggest taking the following skills:
Tumble 60 (Stop taking it at Level 57)
Parry 63
Discipline 63
Listen 63
Everything else from the above build would apply as is.
