This is actually not true. There was no such a big difference between 2H and 2wield one week before the 50% boost, and for what I recall DW was slightly better... the boost came to actually fix the gap between it and DW, but instead created a 100% difference in damage between 2H and DW.
If they removed the bonus entirely, nobody would be using 2H anymore (with exception to barb), so no point in doing that.
You know that dex builds are also somewhat extinct, at least it has been a long time since the last time I saw one that wasnt a rogue, so if STR is 2H and dex DW, then basically theres no DW. And when Dex toons come, they do like 50k damage in the run.

Most Barbs were using Double Weps which was one of the few STR variants using a Dual-wield setup, which I forgot about, but the boost from a 2-Hander weapon was so much more they now tend to use 2-Hander weapons.

Seriously; it wasn't even a challenge any more...he just crushed everybody. Now I'm experimenting with DW dexers and finding builds that are only trailing barby/staffy in terms of damage output. So I guess a lot depends on your tastes...you can make the "no brainer" damage builds or experiment with builds that may not lead the damage list but are still effective.

+++1 for being the best of the "tanks" threads so far.

I tend to make something that hits for 1k+ on a crit and put it away (as you said) and then build an experiment and complain that it doesn't do enough damage lol. Effective is a difficult term to define. People will be glad to take the tank that doesn't do top damage on a hard run as long as it can tank. But the same character will not make certain other runs because it puts drag on the speed of the party. I am talking about 4 and 3 man runs etc.
