Are you running windows 7 ? If so then as I recently found out you need a new or not an ATI graphics card. Only resolved my issues by changing to another graphics card specifically a NVidia card. ATI are not really supporting windows 7 updates on their products.

I don't know about dual boot or dual graphics card installs, but I do know from very recent problems that ATI are dropping all their support for graphics cards that are older than like 3 years and you'll get no help from them with it.
I am using a geforcoe NVidia 8600 GT and I hit loads of problems particularly with NWN with our previous ATI Radeon card with no support or update for windows 7 it was the only option to switch graphics card out of another system we had lying around that had something called a dry joint on the motherboard.
I suggest you switch to your Geforce and update at the Nvidia site whom seem to be on the ball totally with windows 7.

Remember, too, that you don't HAVE to be running the absolute latest drivers in most cases. I would try using older versions of Catalyst and seeing if that doesn't resolve your problem. Your card should run fine with any Catalyst version from (at least) 9.4 onward, tho apparently 9.9 is the oldest version that officially supports Win7. To downgrade: Run the uninstaller linked here and run it to remove your existing drivers, then go here to find a version of Catalyst that will work properly with both your card and NWN. I recommend trying the last version in each series...that is, 9.12, 10.12, and 11.10, to see what works best for you. I would also recommend making sure that DirectX is up-to-date after uninstalling your current drivers but before installing the "new" drivers. If downgrading Catalyst doesn't fix your problem, grab an nVidia card....and complain loudly at AMD about their decision to drop support for slightly-outdated cards. AMD needs to remember that not everybody can afford $100+ for a video card. --Arek P.S. One last thing: Make sure that you don't have Windows set up to automatically download driver updates with recommended and/or critical updates. Getting a driver "update" in this case would probably install some flavour of Catalyst 12.x, which you know doesn't work for you.

You have character environmental mapping or whatever setting, in game, on/off? Sounds more like your problem.
A new card shouldn't be necessary, tons of threads on this forum about the latest series of ati drivers conflicting with NWN. Just roll back to 11.x

I have no issues with my ATI card currently I did have to find the right drivers but fortunately ATI does make their older drivers available. I would roll back to one of the 11.x versions as Crazy suggested just keep dropping back until one works. I think I might even be using or have used that card you are using now and had no issue in the past with it.
FYI Arek you can get a new current ATI card for under $100

Hey moon, i am running a 4870 X2 on windows 7 and it runs fine for me. I tried different drivers and even the latest ones run fine but switching to older ones might help. One thing though: Are you running several instances of the game? I had that issue for a time as well. Im checking if I can find what fixed it. My toons haven´t been visible and only the glow of e.g. immortality was visible.
Ah I think I just remembered. When u switch out the original nwnmain.exe file against one of the modified ones you HAVE TO rename the original one to something like ORIGnwnmain.exe and name the modified one to nwnmain.exe. After it should run fine again IF that was your bug.

I agree that you should check to see if "Environment Mapping on Creatures" is on and toggle it, apply and look at your toon. Works in 95% of cases in my experience.

Most graphical troubles gone if set all settings to minimal value in video options, for AMD cards setting "Shiny water" must be disabled. Catalyst Drivers from version 12.3+ have troubles with NWN for old videocards.
PS Win 7 x64, Radeon HD 4850, Catalyst 12.2 - have no troubles for running several instances of NWN

So was that it, or do u still have troubles. And yeah what rewazer wrote is right, that u have to disable shiny waters. Besides that the drivers for those older graphic cards are at their peek, so they wont be developed any further. 12.2 ran stable on my system and is a good choice. I am running the newest ones and it works very well for me 2. The only thing I realy recommand before installing the newest ones is to realy delete the old ones (uninstall alone aint necessarily enough). but that´s another subject.
