I am an old player who has not been on in about 3 years or so. Looking for a good pure Pali build. I have pharlan.

Pure Paladin? Any particular reason for that?
A Paladin 35 Harper Scout 5 will attack more times and use nearly every feature with the same efficiency. Divine shield makes the Crucible unnecessary.
Alternatively, you could try either Paladin 36 Fighter 4 or Paladin 35 Fighter 4 Monk 1 for better base attacks / defenses.
Make sure to grab Greater Smiting X and use an adequate weapon. (Bastard Sword, Morning star, Scimitar or Kama, if monk)
Another option is to make a Rapier Wit Paladin, making more use of Charisma, but you'd have to use rapiers instead.

Don't see too many pure Pallies. As a result, the builds posted are a bit older. That said, you can try using this one as a template: highergroundpoa.proboards.com/thread/19286/charms-pure-pally-40-paladinIt should still be relevant for the most part -- I'm pretty sure Greater Smite mechanics have changed since it was posted, but the feat selections should still apply.

Like Deso says the pure pallies are less effective these days than the splash ones. Check out Vichya's build here: highergroundpoa.proboards.com/thread/21325 It is an open subrace but it should be very easy to upgrade to Pharlan. Just keep the class progression the same. It sacrifices smiting though. If you want to keep smiting check out my UR build here: highergroundpoa.proboards.com/thread/22742 It is also easy to upgrade to Hound Archon or Pharlan but I have only posted the upgrade on guild forums.

Paladin 31, 4 Fighter (for WS+) and 5 Harper Scout (Boots!) would be my choice for a Paladin. Oh, and thats Vichya's class combo. Make it STR-UNI with Pharlan.

I have had a lot of fun with a 32 palli 4 cot 4fighter that I put together a few years back. It was a smiter with dev crit.

The reason for Paladin 35 is more bonus epic feats and adequate AB with greater smite.

Frankly people, which is the "best" build is up to discussion. Pure pally gets some interesting bennies. Extra esoteric great smite damage. Self-buffed +15 clang. Recharging (normal) smites doing up to 440 physical extra damage/hit (You haven't lived till you kill Pazuzu with a 2000 hit point critical).
Take care kaezar

Don't make me post logs of my pure pally Obviously you want to go pure if you want to be cha-based because the recharging smites are the perk of the build, if you want a standard divine melee build then 31/4/5 or 32/4/4 builds offer you more flat damage without giving up too much.

Ty for the replies glad to see there is still a lot of activity here. So here is what it comes down to. I have a cot/fighter/wm dual welder I love. I was looking to do something a little different with this one. That's why I was going pure but you guys have me rethinking that a bit. Though I was kinda hype about pushing the smite damage as far as it could go. Going to have to think about this.
