I dont see any spellknowledge skill taken in it. You need at least enough points (10-20 depending on your gear) to have more effective counterspelling. Otherwise it will only use level 9 mord, cause it cannot determin the spell casted and esp. if you want to extra channel, saveing up some high level spells is truely welcome. whats points are you talking about here, Spellcraft or what ? -Herc

It seems you are little confused how counterspelling works. It has 2 steps: identifying and countering. Identifying the spell is a check: your Spellcraft + d20 vs. DC 15 + spell level you want to counter. If you are a specialist and deal with a spell from your barred school, the DC is 5 higher. If you succeed the identify check, you can actually counter it. There are 3 possibilities what will be used from your spell book: A. every spell can be countered by itself (e.g. you can counter enemy Everard's with your Everard's) B. some spells have special counterspells (e.g. you can counter Weird by True Seeing) C. you can use universal dispells of high enough level (from the line of Lesser Dispel - Mord) In the second step, Spellcraft has no effect whatsoever, it is used only in the first one.

thx good explanation, never looked tbh that much into this, but had pretty much that impression when counterspelling. either use mord all the time hence burn level 9s, or use special counter spells if you can ID em in battle through spellcraft.
