Hi
Trying to build a toon for HC adventuring using Pharlan. What I want in the build is good tanking ability combined with high damage. If I can also make it use full pally immunity, it should be a decent tank.
Main build is borrowed from SoC, but I have been modifying it to fit HC, and to fit Pharlan. Class splash, and ended up with 4 pally and 6 fighter.(SoC had 8 figther and half Guardinal) I am interested in opinions for this build, as I am not finished.
* I choose to drop Brutal Throw at 60, to fit gr dex I (even out dex and be more resistant for KD checks) * I choose to make use of halberd, instead of DireMace * I wanna fit Weapon specialization, got the option at lvl 6(where I took WF x2). If someone can come up with a idea how to include this, I would be grateful.
6 Fighter / 4 Paladin / 30 CoT Pharlan, Half – Elf Str +4, Wis+4, Cha +4, Free Feats: Great Strength I, Great Strength II, Divine Might Able to walk on quicksand SR 15 +1/lvl

Why split your feats over two weapons and include two weapon fighting, yes you'll get extra damage from using the halberd in two hands but you'll equally get extra damage using two bastard swords? To be honest in -HC- (and in fact normal play) I find the most effective tactic to keep your damage output high is staying alive as its always going to be zero when you're disabled/dead, so I'd try to max your AC and resistance to stat/save checks. Whilst overwhelming/devastating critical feats are nice to have unless you're intent on smushing easy to kill crittable mobs they really won't improve your use to a party. Personally I'd add in a few more points of dex to make those checks and see if you can fit in the line of disarming feats and max your strength as being able to do this can seriously make some end game runs easier.

Me too had this in mind Chain, go with ONE weapon + sheild. The sad thing is that I couldn't make the build then without filling the Pre Epic feats with things I really don't need.(7 of them ) I didn't calculate the saves for this build, but it should be over 60, so need to improve them either.
On the other side, i'll be able to shuffle around some feats and get my Weapon Specialization at lvl 6, which I wanted in the first place.

I'd say go pure. And use a Morningstar + shield combo.

Unless you mean pure divine 10/30 Pally CoT split there is no "pure" here unless you are suggesting a different CC I am personally fond of the smiter route but I wouldn't push it but a CHA based Rapier Wit CoT smiter seems a strong option and with Medium size dual wield would be viable too the damage gain from a 2nd weapon could potentially surpass Crit damage making it an option to drop. I know it is a risky build in HC but you can run it with the dual wield feats as a sword and board to keep safe until you get the gear and stats to make dual wield option a sturdy option.

If you're going for DPS, I would highly suggest dropping one of your weapon foci lines and picking up the entire weapon specialization line for the weapon you intend to use mainly. After that you can see about picking one or two weapon foci feats in a second line so that you can go more defensive with sword/board when necessary.
As far optimizing damage goes, halberd is FAR superior to bastard sword if you consider not only two-handed damage, but also its dual-physical damage types. For your secondary focus (if you have room) I would suggest morningstar as its easily one of the best one-handed weapons in the module, and it doesn't require you to take exotic weapon proficiency.
Keep in mind also, that if you're looking to optimize your damage, Pharlan is a very suboptimal choice for Champion of Torm (though I understand you have very limited options for your HC BUR races) when compared to Kolyarut and Half-Guardinal. Not only do both of those subraces have a stat spread that better serves CoTs, but they both make it easier to take WM splash which is a significant boost to your damage output against crittable enemies. You might actually be better off looking into a different control-class.

I feared you would drop the hammer on This build Semner After Chains prevoius comment i looked into replacing All the two handed feats as well as the halberd ones. Replacement would be all weapon specialization, blind fight, disarm Improved disarm and at epic levels boost dex so I can hit the epic dodge mark( 23)
Still going bastardsword, but if I must change it will be for Morningstar .

Star is the best as it's the only non-large weapon with two damage types and when you get the Minauros one you can beat on tears to your heats content

You didn't list skills. With Discipline, Tumble, CW, CA (40), Listen, conc (20) you can drop start INT from 16 to 14. I would increase CHA to 14(18). Starting stats STR12 and DEX15 are not optimal, change to 14,14 (its like freeing up one epic feat).

Hi Torin
Thank you for constructive feedback, that was just what I was looking for. My IMac is broken atm, so I cant play nor run a test character again atm. When I get it back, I will run a new test character and see how the tips from you /Semner/Chain works out. Naturally I won't follow up on Chirality's wet dream in a pally/sorc battle tank for obvious reasons. I will update the build with saves and skill points in time. Should be a few days only.
