Why so many different Ego types?

Once upon a time I saw a "Raja's ego" item and thought - "Well that's useful in several ways"
Another time I got a "Bane's" - "Useless in everyway"
The other day I got "Outblooded" - "Not useful for my build. such a shame"

Then I ask, why aren't all ego augmenters like Raja's?
For instance they could be like this and people would be happier when they finally drop:

Egos are a luxury item and provide a significant power boost.
The fact that there are so many makes it hard to find the ego you need, and even harder to find it on a good item.

This is exactly how it should be for an item as powerful as an ego.
The vast majority of egos will not be on otherwise-uber items, so in general you need to sacrifice a much better item to fit the ego into your setup.

Though I do tend to agree that it is probably a bit too hard to find the one you need at the moment, I think increasing the chance of Master Augments would be reasonable.

Egos are nothing but a power-boost and should be treated as a rarity that is not readily available. It could even be argued they are more useful in lower levels (40-60) and become a "nice" but not required addition in higher paragon levels.

Yes i agree that egos are a nice to have and not a requirement of any sort.

I myself don't have a single ego on a useable item and I still perform decently (hopefully).

And its like funky said, they are rare, that what makes em special. If i could use 1 decent ego on all my casters what would be my incentive to look forward to a second one?

I think egos for casters are in a good spot right now. I wished there was something simliar for melee toons too tho.
Something like discussed in the other topic like additional critrange or +1 weapondmgdice or something.

Serious idea: 5x Asmo Swords lets you extract an Ego.

Makes running Nessus more rewarding, at the moment Asmo Swords are truly an item for rich boys (takes multiple swords to get a decent property in general).
Giving anyone the ability to collect a few Asmo Swords over time to guarantee something nice could be cool! 
[Reminder that getting 5x Asmo Swords still takes a *huge* amount of playing time].

Because +1 CL > +1 SP. It's not apples to apples.

Because +1 CL > +1 SP. It's not apples to apples.

What about DC x SP (those two are quite close with each other)
Or Shifter x caster (the non caster is heavily hit here)
