Iron Will and Lesser Spell Mantle are cosmetic alternatives to Shield Proficiency and Exp Retreat/Lesser Restoration, but can help some builds and fit quite good the item concept imo.

I would remove Divine and Positive immunity and increase mag to 10%. (netting -5% exotics)

Don't get me wrong i love the item, and I commented on it to see it being approved sooner.
Items seldom have Immunity to all exotic, given spell mantles I would expect more affinity/protection to/against magic. Theme is the reason. Now that I think about it, considering the abjuration school (which it grants immunity) and energy immunity spell, a flat five elemental +5% Immunity could fit.
On the active, it covers 15+ 1d4 levels of spell. would it prevent 2 castings of weird? (I want to understand it's usefulness)

Yes, it shoudn't really make people forget to learn/cast the proper spell or make them believe they're spell immune, just a weak panic button that takes 1 round to activate or, if casted in advance, risks to be wasted very soon. Mostly cosmetic stuff that one time in 10 runs might save your life anyway Breach boots have the underused restoration power, wanted something similar.
