Lore-wise, PDKs are not dragon disciples, nor dragon hunters; they haven't a single blood of draconic heritage. They're good knights and commanders in the realm of Cormyr.
That's a AC drop of 7, not stacking with curse so we're looking at 3 AC drop in a typical end game scenario.
Effective AB of 3 for the whole party is 'ok' on paper but should be usable more often than 1/day, and imo not fitting this one of the PDK abilities.
Making it a single target curse song as per Semner's suggestion would be a exact copy of Shadowdancer's Shadow Daze.
This class is not going to be a full substitute for a bard ever (if only because splashing 5 levels on a tank build to mimic a truly committed bard efficiently is going to be unbalanced) so I would remove the stacking rules to keep it simpler. Looking at other Fear abilities:
Terrifying Rage:
- Foes must succeed in a Will save against (Intimidate skill / 2) or be adversely affected. Up to (Barbarian level including LL) they become panicked, and up to (2 * Barbarian level including LL) they receive -2 to AB and saves.
- Duration increases to 2d3 rounds at Barbarian 41.
- Pure Barbarians have no limit on the HD they can panic.
Dragonfear Aura:
- The Aura lasts 1 round per Dragon Disciple (DD) level, including legendary levels if the character's control class is also DD. It terrifies the character's opponents, inflicting penalties to attack, skills, and saves on them while they are in the aura. Those penalties increase as the DD gains levels:
level 30: -1
level 40: -2
level 50: -3
I'm going to suggest a ChaMod/6 /day ability for -1 AB/Saves, scaling to -2 at CL41+ , stacking with curse song but not stacking with other fear effects, lasting 1 turn.
Well this is good already, not worth waste time to fine tuning it either tbh.
Useless. Recently rezzed guys are usually faster at fixing AC issues by themselves using a EMA/UEF/AOV item anyway. I'd like to see a
Shield Other feature implemented but to keep things simple, some sort of (weak) damage immunity is just as fine. A single-target version of the bardic epic Chant of Warding maybe?
Fwiw, the normal effects are +1 atk/dmg and a +2 saves vs.mind. The attack bonus on this ability is why I removed the AC malus on the Fear ability, avoiding overlap. This one is very similar to a nerfed Warchanter's Warcry spell, it's fitting and useful so just adding more uses/day seemd fine. CL/10 /day (final 6 total) maybe? I assume it already protects vs true fear effects like Warcry and Dirge of the Deathless but if not, it should.
The basic effects are +2 bonus to attack, damage, saves, and skills vs. the selected opponent's race. It's not strong by any means but considering its uniqueness and the fact it can provide a sort of (undispellable?) critical immunity to classes who don't get it with a relatively cheap splash I don't see much reasons to change it. The basic duration is 10 rounds (20 at 41+) for a single use only anyway. A shorter duration, or cha-based duration, but with more uses per day would be preferable anyway imo.
Again AB, again bardsong effects. The vanilla NWN effect also adds a 20% movement speed boost for 1 round, quite weak but fitting.
Semner's suggestion is quite OP, granting around +15 damage to whole party on a cha based build for about 5 minutes total is on par with druid PSK conj at minor investment (while stormlords really have to commit to it) but as long as it works as a no-stacking divine might ability and duration is kept in check it could be worth work into it. I'd really leave the PDK himself out of the damage buff (he's inspiring others afterall) to better express his party-commander role (he could be using divine might on self anyway), halve the proposed duration to ChaMod/2 or make it a flat 1 turn similar to Warcry while keeping ChaMod/2 for damage and at same time apply a movement speed boost for the same duration.
