SO - it started with WoT (and continues) BUT - I'm getting the same thing with NwN now!
I can log in NO problems. BUT, very quickly, the client "freaks out". On one toon, he can't get thru a Rest (game siezes up and crashes just as he gets to the end of the Rest bar.
On another, I could access the inventory and rest, but the cliet still disconnects within a minute.
Strangely, on WoT, I can log in and even start a Batlle, but within 30-60 seconds or so - my connection is "interrupted" and I'm booted. I managed to log back in 3 times in one Battle, having to relog each time.
Obviously SOMETHING is going on. Nothing on my computer has changed (I did completely reinstall WoT because that was one of recommendations from WoT - with no change.
My router DID get "factory reset" before my son learned the Internet went out in the Area. I run BitDefender and don't genereally have to do anything for a game to run. I've checked the program permissions (which appear unchanged)
ANY CLUEs? ANY suggestions?

For Kicks Grins and giggles, I fires up NwNEE (and Bitdefender asked me to allow 2 accesses to the Web) Logged in, could Rest. BUT NOTHING in Inventory screen and there were NO Transitions (doors/gate) AND as I was looking around for more clues - I was disconnected. WTF? What has happened to ME? ?

Try this: Start PC new AND router new (or whatever connects you to the internet).

Somehow your version of CEP has become corrupted have seen this happening to a lot of others elsewhere recently I suspect a nasty little bug has gotten into the works... Have advised others else on other servers to reinstall their versions of CEP and this seems to clear the problem up ...

Sounds like a reasonable answer, and I appreciate the effort, BUT neither my NwN EE nor WoT uses CEP. If NwN Diamond was the only program having the problem, I would probably reload my CEP.
I did try resetting all the firewall rules and making stuff ask me for permissions. WoT asked for and received the access it wanted, and still got disconnected within a minute.
Ran the HG nwnmain.exe directly, granted requested access. Logged in, had inventory, but didn't make it thru a rest before I got disconnected.
Lol - a year ago I didn't have any intention of ever playing NwN again, and now I can't imagine what I will do without it! hahahaha
I'm really perplexed because nothing changed between the time it worked just fine, and when it stopped working. Well, the ONLY thing that happened is the internet went out and my son did a factory reset on the modem. Done that a couple times since. (I don't make specific settings on the modem - like ports and such - Bitdefender has always handled that for me.)
Strangely enough, none of my other STEAM games seem to have that problem (beside NwN EE which is on STEAM) but then, I don't run any other multiplayer games atm. Wondering WHO I would get to troubleshoot this for me. Cable tech might not have a clue. Geek Squad MIGHT, but I'm not dropping off my baby unless I know they have the expertise on hand (and not just a guy who thinks he knows computers - lol) Maybe there is some program they can run that can log the internet traffic to see when and where4 my PC looses connection. Sounds expensive to me.
Again, thanks for ANY help and/or advice

So your previous post about 'reboot everything' didn't work as I got a bit confused there? Do you have NWN set to run as an administrator and is the installation located directly in C:/ rather than in the programs folder, I'm going to guess you are using Windows 10 or these questions are somewhat moot?

Reboot Everything is a staple in any computer person's arsenal. Always try that first - lol. And yes, everything NwN related is set to Administrator Privilege (including Arf2 and HGX)
People. NwN Diamond, NwN EE, and World of Tanks are ALL having this problem. I get the "You were disconnected from the Server" is less than a minute. I am "certain" it has NOTHING to do with NwN Diamond.
I am running Win7x64 on an Alienware X51 with 16GB Ram. NwN is loaded on the D: Drive in the Gaming Folder like all my other games. My C: Drive is an SSD and I only keep system stuff on there. I keep up with updates (Windows and Drivers)
The COPY of my NwN Diamond is still running on my grandson's computer (So I know the copy is/was good)
I FEEL certain that it is related to my Internet Connection, but I can't figure out HOW. Other Single Player Games work just fine - even the ones that connect to STEAM while playing. (they don't loose connection) I only run 2 multiplayer games - NwN and WoT - and they are both "broken". Never have ANY problems connecting, but the connection self terminates within a minute. SOMETHING is telling it to do that - for SOME reason. I just need to find the culprit.

Windows 10 doesn't like allowing some older games the access rights they require if you let them install to the programs folder which is why I asked that question. Does the single player game still work as it should?

Have you tried turning off QoS on the router? I had a problem with it a few years ago... after a connection dropped a few packets the router decided the connection wasn't good enough and disconnected repeatedly. Not a definite but might be worth a shot?

Excellent question (and I didn't KNOW the answer) YES, the single player works just fine.
I'll have to look that one up (how to do that with my router - and what QoS is - lol)
lol - Took me forever to find it buried in the menus, but when I got there, it was already disabled by default. sigh Thought we might have a winner for a minute there. Great Try!

OK when you get the servers menu up what are the ping, etc. times looking like, can you post a picture of this just in case there's any conclusions that can be drawn from the output.

(I don't make specific settings on the modem - like ports and such - Bitdefender has always handled that for me.) If the modem got a factory reset and you connect via wifi it might be that the wifi password was reset. I replaced my router a few months ago, network name stayed the same but password changed, my laptop was still connecting but weird things went on with the internet (pages failing to load, loading at a snails pace, games not seeing servers etc.) might be worth checking

This is a common problem with NWN and multiple computers on the same LAN: arelith.fandom.com/wiki/More_players_from_the_same_networkI used to work for a telco, and our DSL modems had some specific settings that were not obvious, so I would suggest getting a hold of the tech support line to see if they have any recommendations.
