Fizzle the Barbarian
Notes:
- The special thing this build does that is different from most others is it has a final spell resistance of 95. The highest spell penetration of any caster that I am aware of is 73. This character is immune to any spell that checks spell resistance.
- The intention of this build is for a Barbarian control class that has much easier time gearing for Limbo.
-- An example, immune to any Implosion spell so not required to use Asmo belt. If do not have any Wraps of the Dark Prince, the Tragidore Belt is a good alternative source of Divine Power.
- This build does not use Shapestrong, I know many just "love" that feature.
- Barbarian 18 gives:
-- 3/- Physical resist, this does stack with other feats and items.
-- 5 Greater Rages per day, gives critical hit immunity for 96 seconds at 60, 126 seconds at 80.
--- UR belts, Tempest of Blood can recharge rages.
--- HGX can be used to set a timer for the duration of this.
- Monk 18 gives:
-- 60% bonus speed.
-- Empty Body gives 50% conceal, test chamber had more than 100 ticks.
--- Should get more conceal from hide skill and a Druid's Mass Camouflage spell, the Empty Body is a good backup if killed or debuffed.
-- Quivering Palm allows for 1 use per day of stripping the critical immunity off of any not boss mob.
- Paladin gives:
-- Divine Might, +10 damage for 60 seconds at 60, +15 damage for 90 seconds at 80.
--- This can be a challenging buff to maintain, setting up an HGX timer helps a lot with this.
-- Holy Sword Wands, are great for dealing with caster mobs that are buffed with spells like Energy Buffer, Premonition and Ethereal Visage.
-- Could go Blackguard instead of Paladin. Loose true fear immune and holy sword wands for poisons and get to be evil.
Pharlan
- The main reason for choosing this race is for it's base 75 SR at 60.
- Levitation is very useful for part 1 Limbo.
Barbarian 18, Monk 18, Paladin 4
- There are a number of alignment shifts required between Neutral Good and Lawful Good.
- Strength artifact used.
- Of the 20 ability points gained from 1-60 leveling, 14 go to strength, 6 to dexterity.
-- If choose to use a different artifact, will have to use 2 of the dexterity points for strength to keep the 40 base at 60.
Feats
Pre-Epic
- Level order: 1-12 Barbarian, 13-16 Paladin, 17-20 Monk.
- All ability increases to strength.
Pharlan - Divine Might, Great Strength 1/2
01 - Ba - Blooded - Requirement for LSA Tumble
03 - Ba - Weapon Focus - For Limbo, a slashing weapon tends to be better, but choice should be made on the best large sized weapons available.
06 - Ba - Greater Weapon Focus
09 - Ba - Improved Critical
12 - Ba - Power Attack
13 - Pa - Have to shift alignment to take Paladin Level.
15 - Pa - Toughness
17 - Mo - Reminder to start Monk levels.
18 - Mo - Great Claeve
Epic
- Level order: 21-26 Barbarian, 27-40 Monk.
- All ability increases to strength.
21 - Ba - Armor Skin, have to shift alignment to take Barbarian levels.
24 - Ba - Epic Weapon Focus
27 - Mo - Epic Prowess, have to change alignment for last time to take level.
30 - Mo - Overwhelming Critical
33 - Mo - Devastating Critical
36 - Mo - Improved Spell Resistance 1
39 - Mo - Improved Spell Resistance 2
40 - Mo - Reminder to maximize Concentration and Hide skills to 43.
Legendary
- Ability point increases at 42, 44, 46 and 48 take strength. At 50+ take dexterity. If do not use a strength artifact, ability increases at 50 and 52 should be used for strength instead of dexterity.
42 - LSA Tumble
45 - Legendary Weapon Focus
48 - Improved Spell Resistance 3
51 - Improved Spell Resistance 4
54 - Improved Spell Resistance 5
56 - Pandact of Darkest Secrets Spell Resistance, Improved Spell Resistance 6/7
57 - Improved Spell Resistance 8
60 - Improved Spell Resistance 9
- Without Pandact, will still be immune to most casters by level 60.
Paragon
63 - Paragon Weapon Focus
66 - Improved Spell Resistance 10
69 - Paragon Environmental Adaptivity 1
72 - Paragon Environmental Adaptivity 2
75 - Paragon Environmental Adaptivity 3
78 - Paragon Balance
- Limbo normal is 9 layers of penalties, the Adaptivity feats will help characters with few Abyssal wins.
- For characters with a lot of Abyssal wins, could shift the Paragon Balance feat to a lower level.
- With Improved Spell Resistance 10, will have a total of 95 SR.
- Had 7 loose skill points at 60. Capped Tumble because there are Tumble checks in Limbo. The 1 point in SC is to see party casters spells cast during buff phase. The 1 point in pickpocket is most likely useless, but what are you going to do with 2 skill points?
- The at 80 skills:
-- The +15 to the skills is part of the 50 magic cap.
-- All the skills with the +15, also get +5 from Prell tags and +10 from x6 Demigod, which is part of the 50 cap.
-- Assuming Bard song of +20, should cap all the +15 skills at +50 without having to worry about getting bonuses to those skills from equipment.
- Could use Strongheart for an extra 2 AC.
- Girding of the Faithful (Cleric Epic) would add 2 AC. Stolen Lifeforce (Druid Paragon spell) would add 2 AC.
- XR Robes/Bracers could add another 1 AC. XR amulet could add 1 AC if do not use Strongheart.
- Monk levels do give Improved Knock Down feat:
-- Attack Bonus is on the low side to have an effective knockdown ability, it is free to spam every 6 seconds. Have no other swift action options.
