Does the crucible of moliation have any value anymore? Farmed my first one ever a few days before "The Patch: 2020" and was planning use it for a harper build, but im not sure what to do with it now.
If it has no value, I would like to suggest allowing the crucible to also upgrade a UR augmenter to a random BUR aug. Or rare to UR in the same series/class of aug. eg lions -> prideleaders.
Please dont interprit this as another "woe is me" post. If the crucible remains the same as it is, i will move on. Im just offering suggestions.

That’s so much power for an item so easily acquired. Way too strong. I believe the boots for HS will be reworked at some point. Just stockpile them.

UR to BUR aug is way to much, especially considering the runs level requirement. But Rare to UR seems reasonable, possibly with a run level cap to acquire it.

Rare to UR? No way. Multiple UR augs selling for 10s of billions if not 100 billion plus. And that’s appropriate power to give to an LL run? Never gonna happen. A feature like you’re describing sounds more appropriate for Ixion. And that’s still ignoring how truly broken a run offering that would be in the LL tier.
Consider that Elysium gives a random UR aug after a slog of a run and is very much at the 55-60 range with true Limbo possibility. Whereas Limbo could be negated entirely in PoM just as a starting point.

I think that there is value in lowering the costs of the UR augs to make more available to everyone else outside the power gamers.
Some augs are now over 200B+ in the Aug shop. So you are right, the value of an aug is at least 100B or more in some cases to certain people. But at one point it was 2000GP and 4000GP and 8000GB, so I dont think the Aug shop prices are truly indicative of the their value to everyone. However, I have never seen an Aug go over 5B in the auction house. They may have sold for more, I just havent seen it. Allowing the CoM to upgrade Augs would likely bring the price of UR augs and the CoM down to 1B or so. Which is a level everyone can afford and allow UR items to be attainable at a UR character level.

I think that there is value in lowering the costs of the UR augs to make more available to everyone else outside the power gamers. The rewards in game always have and always will be commensurate to time invested. You don't have to be a power gamer to get such an aug, but you do have to invest the time. What you are proposing is completely unworkable. Funky

the aug shop was literally created as a goldsink
it's functioning exactly as designed and intended
moliated class secrets have long been in need of an overhaul since randomization completely obviated their usefulness aside from the HS boots
i'm optimistic that moliated class secret gear will eventually get a buff package. until then, the "sudden lack" of crucible having "value" should have have absolutely zero negative impact on anyone. it's just a thing that went from being moderately-valuable as tradebait from low-power to high-power players (bridging a gap between those who can farm LL runs to get stuff they can't otherwise, from richer players that don't want to waste their own playtime on those runs), to having no desirability at the moment.
this thread seems like an attempt to combine augpricewhine#343572 with "new update upended trade value and demand of items that i personally could supply" unhappiness.
it's not quite a "woe is me" but it is a bit shortsighted. crucible should have a uspese precisely for its intended function, which is forging "improved" secret set loots. those items became essentially defunct over time, but the fact that HS boots were on the other extreme of the spectrum isn't a great talking point for arguing that the crucible should remain anywhere near as competitively-valued in the overall economy. the moliated secret gear should be better than it is now, but not too much better; the crucible itself should be at best an "LL farmer option" for well-randomized BURhunting, along the lines of moliated class secrets being at best comparable to a slightly-moderately above-average BUR.
the dynamic of having the run exist to drop 100% a 1-time-per-reinc consumable that exists to enable a popular splash was lame and unhealthy; the update eliminated this aspect of the server, for a positive improvement in all ways. if/when moliated gear is buffed to be solidly-competitive (or as sub-vestige-tier boots for the uniquely-troubled HS, at best), crucible will regain some value; until then, players who were attracted to/reliant on PoM runs for wealth acquisition can turn to other options. there's not really a problem in need of solving here, imo.
on that note, augshop/augprices also doesn't present a problem in need of solving.

What you are saying makes sense. If the crucible has no value for now, then that is fine. I will still run PoM, as it is a great xp run with some high value set loot(at times worth more than the crucible itself, which only drops in 1/5 runs, as has been my experiance)
Offering a suggestion to make a item that is likley considered useless, gain some value and fits the theme(upgrading) seems resonable to me. If it is not workable for whatever reasons(power balance, ruins a gold sink, zots, Merlkley suggested it..haha) then I move on.
Thanks for your responses. I am learning a lot about the history of the server and why things are the way they are.

You're definitely right that the boots linked to the crucible need amending - suggestions welcome.

yeah, been brainstorming this (and debating whether to widen the scope of discussion to include the other secrets as well, or leave separate as a later issue and focus on the "HS issue" prio atm) for a couple weeks now. the "climate" of discussion and seemingly-mutable potential of the boots' status seemed to be a bit in flux, so i was going to wait until things seemed to stabilize a bit before starting a new thread with proposals.
for now, i think the move is to put "fixing overall moliated class stuff" on the back burner and roll out some new statting for the hs boots, so i'll throw something up in regards to that

Sorry to derail the thread from the (recently very popular) "whiner vs not a whiner" drudgery, but is the crucible actually useful/used for anything other than the HS Boots? I've got one sitting in my bankchest that I never did anything with.

IMHO the first thing that should be done is fix the insane amount of cheese that is currently being used by most in the PoM boss fight...

yes, for the rogue amulet, which has always been pretty much an "expectation" for any (35+/CC) rogue to own. with the brazier change, the moliated glint has certainly been re-cemented as a critical instrument in the rug toolkit. since most players don't have but one such rogue per account--unlike HS-splasher dps-focus reincbuild tanks that had a relatively high consumption rate--the desire/need for crucibles for this purpose was never very high (present but not very impactful). i don't see a whole lot changing there, even with the vestige change.
other than that: absolutely not. the other secret gear moliated versions are really bad (read: made obsolete relative to later LL run setloot and/or BURs depending on level range/application). the stats should still be up for them on the wiki. don't get me wrong, they're not "unwearable in all circumstances", but as a comparison, the moliated mage robes barely compete with a solid fist wrap (and even a mediocre one is exceedingly easy for even a newbie to acquire).

IMHO the first thing that should be done is fix the insane amount of cheese that is currently being used by most in the PoM boss fight... i mean...it's an LL run...what's the big deal, honestly? it's pretty obnoxious when done "appropriately" and can be a truly nightmarish experience for underprepared/nondrag/noncheese "at-level" parties. even when crucible was a fairly primo item to fetch a solid value in trade or market, it's not like cheesing PoM was ever a big deal. i don't know what's so offensive about it, especially when the mobs and map design are really made to be torturous. the bossfight books being placed in a ridiculous spot that makes targeting extremely aggravating could be fixed if there's some anti-cheese measures being proposed, if you ask me. at the end of the day, the run doesn't feel like it merits much more of an increase in difficulty or time investment without really improving the rewards--just being honest.
