Yes its true. Three days after the first party conquered the 6th level of the Hells the 8th level has fallen in like fashion. Cania is just plain hard. Its longer than level 7 and has meaner spawns. The lesser creatures have all but vanished and in their place large PACKS of Pit Fiends, Gelugons, Ozzies, and Cornugons (grouped together) along with living colds and other nasties. Plus a boss fight that is far the most difficult we have seen so far. I think we were all feeling the that things would have gone smoother and faster if we had that 10th person. But, we persevered because the party members worked together well, and had members who could think quickly on the fly. The loot was the best yet of course but it was definitely not the easiest way to get uber gear.
The victorious party included...
Unchained Melody (funkyswerve) - Bard Aessa Silvermoon (acaos) - Wizard Kaelea (tyranlthixis) - Druid Dharfal Littlekins (sti15) - RDD/DD Silo Mather(cath) (cathedralmaster) -Shifter Alateu-lkarz (sabregirl) - Cleric Charon Bloodmoon (ashman5) - RDD/WM Kaejas Fusa (fusa) - Monk Shanah Jadon (archmage13) - Sorcerer
The biggest reward is that the members are now free to explore and hopefully finish the final level Nessus, and to attain Demigod status...

Not everyone got a BUR, though there was enough for everyone to get at least one UR. The run from first spawn killing Meph took over 4 hours. Meph himself took over 17 minutes to kill, and he is one bada** boss in terms of damage output also. From setting up the run to splitting loot took about 6 hours. My chat log analysis shows 158 deaths of various party members. 3 people visited Limbo. Definitely not the best way to get good gear. A quiet moment in Cania. Can Mephistopheles come out and play? Will you die already?! Ding dong, the archdevil is dead. Nessus. We're ready. How hard can it be? Oh my. That's a lot of things all at once. The whole map kind of looks like this? And this is just the first map? Gulp.

This really is amazing guys. 3 levels (3 of the hardest levels at that!) in 3 days. Congratulations are certainly in order. Well done, and can't wait to hear about the 9th level.

Congratulations All! You know, I'll be very disappointed if I ever get to Meph and he ends up sounding like Dekin. Hrmmm - maybe a DM pet

No, Mephistopheles goes on about how you have no hope . .. and several times I really wanted to agree with him. Definitely a nasty though in some ways *fun* layer. Nessus just scares me! Do you feel cold . . .YET? And yet another taunting pile of loot. . . . -S

No, Mephistopheles goes on about how you have no hope . .. and several times I really wanted to agree with him. That was the best part - YOU HAVE NO HOPE! YOU HAVE NO HOPE! YOU HAVE NO HOPE! Then he ran over and killed me. Someone resed and he went out of his way to run back and kill me again. Repeat. I felt special. His regen is as scary as hell though.

What does Mephistopheles sound like? Take the sound your character makes when it takes some damage. Mix that in with the sound your character makes when it dies. Now add in those sounds for most of your teammates. If you're on voice chat, add in repeated statements of things like "Oh my god, I have to rest again, anyone have a bio?" "Oh crud he just killed <insert character here> again" and my favorite "How much freaking regen does he have?!". Now add in your own constant muttering of "d**m it!" and "oh cr**!".

Go into your toolset editor and load up a blank module, then put a creature in it. Edit it, go to advanced properties, look at the bottom right, and change its soundpack. Scroll to Mephistopheles. He sounds somewhat cultured, has some presence to his voice. Quick question with the voicepack, is he as spammy as Dachy? Also, lolz to Asmodeus for teh pwnage. :/

No, I'm afraid we got to asmodeuses vestibule if that. The evil wickedness that preceeded the Lord of the Nine himself, boggles the mind. After hordes of pit fiends we came to the first gate Careful work brought us to the gate into the fortress. Inside Malsheem where the devils had horrible, nasty surprises in wait for us . . . we met our untimely end not too far from this lovely vestibule. We shall, of course, make another attempt, but the quaking in our boots will be even moreso. -S
