I guess it would not be bad for transfering equipment. Or you could just find a friend to help in game. (Not directed at you Illandous, just the thread in general). It seems everyone is trying to get a leg up lately cause they have seen some others running the 2 box systems.

Yeah I renamed nwmain.exe and its showed up as nwmainII.exe which is good but when i tried to run the other one, nothing... Damn I can even run it as another user, but still the second one doesnt come up, so does anyone have a resonable explanation as to WHY, we can't run it twice, is it really just checking to see if its running like I thought, or what... there has to, has to be a way around this...

To run, two copies of NWN on your XP computer, follow theese directions.
1) install nwn then goto computer on your start up menu; copy and rename the neverwinternights file to something else (I use neverwinternights2).While you are changing this also change the port as well my first has port 5121 my second folder I use 5125. 2)Now within the nwn2 file, change the cd key to your second one.
3) XP stops you from running two copies of nwn. To get around this you switch user identities. a) log onto the servers with the fist copy of nwn, window out and now b) switch users and log using the nwn2 copy and its cd key.
It would be impossible to play both of these at the same time due to the obvious having to log and switch users in a run but it works to transfer gear, such as crafted stuff and scrolls..etc.

The dual boot option was not posted for the purpose of switching OS'es, but rather for people who didn't want to wholly switch over to Linux. So one would install Linux to run NWN, but keep their XP (or WHY) install to run the programs they're familiar with.
From what I understand, it is possible to run 2 instances of NWN (one renamed) from the same drive at the same time in Linux quite easily.

From what I understand, it is possible to run 2 instances of NWN (one renamed) from the same drive at the same time in Linux quite easily. Well I was looking at what this person was trying to do and the purpose of the original post. For the purpose of what was being requested Running Dual boot is not a viable option. Yes i would see it as possible to do it under linux But easily?? Just doing the base install of everything (not including the CEP) is a chore by comparison. nwn.bioware.com/downloads/linuxclient.htmlOnly if you know the system well. Which by this point if you DONT know how to do it or already know and run dual boot. it would be a tough thing to explain to someone that does not knwo the workings of linux to begin with. And to install Dual boot and Linux just for what is being requested by this thread is extream overkill and danger to the system in general. The Safest and most convinient option still remains using a free VM system. Unless specifically asked about linux it is assumed that the person is basing their request on a winblows based system. I dont generally assume something like this but in gaming forums the first and most obviouse view is a windows based system. Basides if we discuss it to the opening of all available OS's that NWN is set up for like this why has nothing been stated about doing this with a mac??. Because By nature Gaming is a PC and MS based environment. The number of people actually running in a linux env is small by comparison and support is limited exspecially for gaming. ADDED: Please dont get me wrong I am not a major advocate for M$. As a matter of fact I only view it as a nessicary evil. I am a Linux man I just realize that the limitations and support for Linux in the gaming world I would ratehr spend time enjoying my game then being a beta tester. M$ I use to play. Linux is for work. MAC is for Art and multimedia. All attemps for crossing over these things always brings up complications,a dn these systems are prediominatly desgined for those tasks and anything else is secondary. PLease lets not turn this into a Linux VS M$ thing as that is not what i want to imply.
