I've broken into my neighbors house because they needed something done more than my own though. Normally they get stuck in a location and need the pets let out.
My 2 year old has locked me out of the house once. That's about it though.

Go two-year old =)
About the three or four times I've tried, I've only failed once and ended up going to a friend's house till parents got home. I always wondered what a neighbor would think if they peered out their window at just the right moment....

lol, too often Fortunately, I taught myself to pick locks some time ago simply for bragging rights. Unfortunately, it still takes me at least 10 minutes to get in the back door BTW: I highly reccomend teaching yourself to do the same, modern locks are incredibly simple mechanisms and it isnt nearly as hard as some people might think (really only about 7-8 skill points ) ~grudge

Actually, you can get unlock most basic locks by sticking a special key into it and banging on the key, takes like 2 seconds to unlock the door... very spooky.

Everytime I move I lock myself out about twice before I remember to bring my new key with me. It's scary how easy it is to get in my home (it was easy anyway ). I've since fixed that problem and hope that I don't lock myself out anymore.

I generally can't go through the front door, I don't have a key, it has a deadbolt, and is attached to a security alarm which I cannot deactivate. (Fortunately, my parents are too clueless to notice its been off for a while ^.^) I usually have to break in through a window, usually I have to unlock it before I leave, and putting it back after I get in in such a way so that it doesn't look as though the house has been broken into. I live in a fairly good neighborhood, and others don't have pre-knowledge of what i'm doing (Hopefully), so, i'm not really afraid of anyone else breaking in. I really wish I could just get a key though :*(

As I leave the house, I have a mantra I repeat, while patting various parts of my attire. Keys. (house, car) Cash. (Coins, notes, plastic) Fags. (smokes. Lighter. rizla) Phone. (currently 2 of) It took a while to get into this habit, but since then I have never left any of these behind in 15 years. (OK, maybe the phone a couple of times ...). (Note: USA residents may wish to use "smokes" in the mantra. ) At my parents house, forgetting the keys would involve either a) waking my parents. b) breaking a window. Neither very pleasant.

Nope it doesn't damage the lock. Basically it does the same thing picking a lock does, except in one quick motion instead of over the course of several minutes.
