Reworked!
Initiate of the Lash (Monk/Barbarian):
The Monks of the Order of the Lash long ago split from normal Monk teaching. Feng Shu who was the First Initiate of the Lash saw the beauty of the whip. Its fluid motion, like Water, inspired him to forego the traditional weapon teachings of Fist and Kama, and Instead learn to become one with the Lash. His training was not easy, he studied for long and hard outside his Monastery, he learned to balance himself between Chaos and Law by studing with the Barbarians of The Long Grass, and there Feng learned how to take his chaotic emotions, his rage and anger, and channel them with his Ki into his whip. In the end the Master of the new Order of the Lash was to become one with his weapon and vowed never to again use the Kama in combat.
----------------------------------------------------------
Requirements: Must have 15 levels of Monk, 5 Levels of Barbarian, and Weapon Focus: Whip before level 21. You gain several abilities with the whip after meeting these requirements.
Benefits:
- Gains the Balanced Soul item: Allows the Initiate to switch his alignment from lawful to chaotic at will.
- Gains the following feats: Epic Weapon Focus Whip, Weapon Specialization Whip, Epic Weapon Specialization Whip. Improved Disarm.
- Raging Ki: When you use your barbarian rage you NO longer gain the Barbarian benifits, instead once per day per Rage an Initiate can become enraged enough that he can actually infuse his whip with his own lifeforce, granting a Attack bonus equal to his (Monk level x 2)/3 capped at +20 at Monk Level 30 this ability lasts for as long as the normal rage of the character lasts. (The duration is the Constitution modifier + 3 rounds.)
---Special: Taking Greater rage will add 10 Rounds to the rage rather than the normal barbarian bonuses. Taking Might Rage will change the rage from Rounds to turns. Taking Thundering Rage will make any opponent hit with the his whip make a Will save VS. 10+monk level x 2 [Max of 40] or be frightened for a number of rounds equal to the Initiate's CON modifier. Thundering rage has no change----
- Whirlwind:
For characters who are Initiates of the Lash, Improved Whirlwind has an improved effect. The Initiate will perform a second set of attacks, separate from the whirl, in which the Initiate will automatically attempt a Improved Disarm attack on every enemy in range. This attack will use one of the Initiate’s Stunning Fists each time it is used.
- Special: upon taking the Vow of an Initiate they may no longer use a Kama, they lose the proficiency, nor does a Whip count as a Kama for using Flurry of Blows, getting Monk ATT per Round, ect. These abilities are lost to the Initiate. (you may still use a diffrent weapon in the off hand, though it will not count towards Monk abilities. Otherwise this build is limited to 4 Att per round at level 40)
------------------------------------------------------------
I think this is pretty balanced, the build forces you to spread your Ability scores, Need STR to get Epic Rage feats, Need CON to make your Raging Ki last longer, Need DEX and WIS for AC
The build also is balanced on levels, You can take more barbarian levels lowering your Raging Ki damage, but allowing you access to the epic Rage feats, OR more monks for more damage, but no epic raging feats.
Lastly while gaining several feats you lose the monk unarmed AB ablilities, you also lose the Barb STR and CON bonuses due to rage...
