rule 1: HG doesnt do hakpaks rule 2: HG doesnt do hakpaks we know it makes it easier for new people and anyone who doesnt want to download them. But what about an optional hakpak? just basic things like what is talked about here: [ftp]http://highergroundpoa.proboards3.com/index.cgi?board=Tavern&action=display&n=1&thread=2907[/ftp] not graphics or main engine changes, but maybe just cosmetic or useful ones, a few voices, portraits maybe. trix

My understanding is there are no 'optional' hakpaks. It's either loaded in the module and required, or it isn't and isn't. There are some packages that open up portraits and voices that are normally NPC-only, but those are client-side overrides (like the crash fix), and the server never sees them.

Hiryuu's understanding is correct. There is also server-side-only content that clients don't need, but they aren't put in haks for that very reason (we use several different files of this type). As I just posted in the thread you linked to, nothing there would require haks, or in fact even be made easier by use of a hak. Haks are generally only needed for custom content, and the immunity/resist calculator would be purely scripting. Funky

Ok. cool. my theory destroyed by my limited understanding of the server/NWN engine! Thanks for clearing that up.
