Our introduction has been around a while and needed an update. Our guild has formally been in existence since 2006. Since that time we have remained an active growing guild.
The Sheinja idea originally came from Sabregirl's "Way of the Talon" mod back when she was actively making race and adventure mods for Morrowind. The Sheinja, or shining ones, were an order of Pharlan Knights dedicated to honor and justice for all. Membership in the order required great skill in combat as well as quality of character.
We do not encourage putting the guild name or other guild markings on your guilded characters and encourage potential members to put a little creativity into their characters names.
Here are some of the qualities that we aspire to....
Respect
Our members are bound together by their ideals and their mutual respect for one another and not so much a formal hierarchy. Basically we feel that if you have earned your right to stand with us as a member, you have earned the right to have direct say in the decisions and direction of the guild. We do have a leader to help decide on matters where clear consensus cannot be reached and to be the final judge on difficult decisions. Respect also means that our members are expected to show respect for each other (as equals) and to the community. We value people who respect themselves and others. This means we are not here to tell you what to do, who you can party with, what sort of characters you need to play. As a member you contribute how you want and as much as you want.
Leadership
First a little bit about our leader. Our formal leader is Sabregirl (my wife). She has a PhD in Biology, and works as a college professor. She is of Lawful Good alignment (be warned . She is a well respected player and has put considerable time and effort in building the world we all enjoy. She is also a very skilled player and a skilled character builder. Our guildies contributions are just as impressive. Whether contributing to the HGwiki or setting trends in character building or helping groups on runs, you will always find our members playing leadership roles in the HG community. While being in Sheinja does not make you a great leader, these are the kinds of people we actively recruit.
Excellence
Our guild values excellence in character and in game skill. We generally prefer seasoned players, but this does not mean we do not recruit new players. It does mean that in order to join this guild you do need to demonstrate to its members that you can get along with our guildies and that at the very least you want to learn and are teachable. Our insistence on excellence means that if you do a !who party and see a Sheinja tag beside a person name that you have almost certainly invited a talented player into your party. No other guild can boast the consistency and over all quality of players we have. We have worked hard to keep it that way. We are not the biggest but being Sheinja means something. I think that Sheinja is a guild you can take pride in being a member of. If you are a mature minded player who wants to play and learn with some very talented players. This is the guild for you.
Applying to our Guild
One of the things I want to make clear is that our members do not recruit players who are in other guilds. If you are in another guild and are wondering when we are going to ask you to join. Its not going to happen. Even if we really like you. Basically if you are in another guild and want to be a part of our guild, YOU need to send a PM to any of our members. We are not in the business of tearing other guilds down. It's bad for the server. We will, however, respect your decision if you want to join us.
New players who do not have a guild affiliation may be approached by our members or may send a PM to Sabregirl or myself who will then post that PM on our private forums. Be warned, if you are not known to our guildies and you have not made effort to help us get to know you this process may take a while.
All our members are encouraged to participate in the player selection process. We value internal harmony and dislike drama, so a single player who has strong opinions about you can make or break your acceptance.
