Hi, just integrated the latest version of Simtools yesterday into my PW module, and it works just fine on my windows XP testing machine.
Transfered all the files to the server machine and everything works fine (including dm commands and emotes).
However, if a character changes to a language other than common and tries to speak it crashes the nwserver everytime.
On my test machine, same version of the module, same install of the various DLLs etc, works just fine.
Just the languages, odd. Any advice? The logs are not very illuminating, showing no errors.
The only difference I can come up with (both machines have same version of MySQL, 1.68 patch of NWN, with SOU and HOTU) is the operating system.

As a further note, it does the same thing using the SIMTools_Test module, crashy crashy

Okay, got rid of Vista, and still have a crashing problem. The 2nd time the character speaks any non-common language, crash boom bang that includes on the SIMTools_Test module

That's extremely odd. It only happens the second time they speak it? Are you using the most recent version of SIMTools off the Vault, 3.1? Here's a link in case you are not: nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Scripts.Detail&id=2993The reason I ask is that there was a crash bug in an older version of the chat plugin SIMTools uses that would crash if SIMTools' logging was enabled and not otherwise. DId you have logging enabled only on one of the two modules? Other than that, there was also a crash bug caused by typing certain characters, but that is also long since resolved. Funky

Yes, latest version, 3.1.
Not sure about the logging business. Its the default setting for both modules, the SIMTools_Test mod is the one supplied and I didn't change anything. You mean fky_chat_config something? or NWNX.ini properties?

From fky_chat_config:
const int TEXT_LOGGING_ENABLED = FALSE;//Set to TRUE to send all messages to the text log.
Do you have that set to TRUE? If so, try setting it to FALSE and see if that stops the crashes.

We continue to have ongoing problems with server crashing. Now on Windows XP to remove the (highly) variable Vista issues.
Basically its the same, switching languages is the big problem. To anything and then back to common, speak, Kaboom.
Using the /l command also causes problems, but only after a couple of lines of text have been spoken. Its all very mysterious and rather annoying.

Did you disable the text logging (and then successfully recompile all the scripts) as I suggested in my last post?

Text logging has never been enabled.
const int TEXT_LOGGING_ENABLED = FALSE;//Set to TRUE to send all messages to the text log.
full script recompile has occurred, multiple times. still crashes constantly, to the point where we have had to ban people using the languages. Make the server too unstable.

Noticed that the same thing occurs with other channels. Like DM Players seeing DM Channel.
Crash.

Given all that you've said, the problem has to be in the plugin, not the scriptset. You should head over to the NWNX boards and ask virusman to look into it (he and dumbo are the ones who wrote the lin and win versions, but dumbo isn't around any more, as far as I know). Funky
