oh, but since ur doing "ok" right now, you can still get gear for future toons right? my first toon was a waste of time as well, and i leveled it to 47. the only thing that kept me alive were 1k+ hp and decent damage reduction/resistance (it was a full barbarian). I even took a lot of craft armor even though it was useless back then
anyway, taking classes in chunks of 4 only counts for the classes that get 3 AB / 4 levels, and only pre-epic. for example: 4 bard / 4 cleric will give you 6 AB, while 3 bard / 5 cleric will only give you 5. generally, it is mostly a problem when mixing tier 2 BAB classes pre-epic (tier 2 being 3AB/4levels), if you mix them with tier 1 BAB classes, theres no real need to take the full 4 levels of monk if you splashed it at level 1 to get cleave. in epic levels, all classes give the same ab, so 20 fighter (pre-epic) / 20 wizard (epic) will give the same as 40 fighter.
120-130 AC?
10 base + 8 armor + 1 dex + 16 enhancement + 3 shield + 16 enhancement + 16 natural + +16 deflection + 20 dodge + 12 tumble + 2 armor skin + 2 craft armor = 122
with a base dexterity of 8, 60 tumble, 80 craft armor, the armor skin feat and decent gear.
and what uncanny said about critical hits and AB is true: while having 10-20 threat range is quite nice, its only useful if you hit on a 10. because once you roll 10, if that roll is a miss, you miss. if its a hit, you roll again and if THAT roll is a hit, you score a critical hit. only a 20 will always be a hit, and a potential cirtical hit, so rolling 20 two times in a row, will result in a critical hit, no matter how low your AB...
considering the ab of 92, i think a weapon with smaller threat range, but higher multiplier would've been a wiser choice, meaning that IF you hit score a critical hit, you hit harder.
example: you need to roll 16+ in order to hit, meaning the maximum useful threat range is 16-20, because 10-15 will miss anyway. so now you have 16-20 x 4 (dev crit + 5 WM) with a light flail or scimitar, even a normal longsword, but 16-20 x 5 with a bastard sword or a hammer or battleaxe, which is why bastard sword is used so often: a combination of decent threat range (13-20 maximum) and decent multiplier (x5 maximum). scythe would have 16-20 x 6, but since you are medium sized, you dont want to sacrifice shield ac.
divine shield isn't altogether useless: it provides kickback, divine immunity and allows for dodge AC to be maxed out quite easily, meaning you are less gear/song dependant. if you plan on wearing +16 boots, the dodge AC is indeed useless, considering you have haste as well.
another way to get more AB, is leaving out either the WM or the devastating critical route, and pick more great smiting feats (pre-legendary) for a higher strength boost at level 41.
