Didn't this used to be sticked? I'm sure it was, but couldn't find it on first page of build discussion forum and had to search for it this time round EDIT: Which is because it moved. Now i feel silly.

If my base Fortitude at lvl 40 is 26.
Base 26, +20 to saves, + 6 from stat points from items ((12/2)) = 52
LL +5 so at lvl 60 I would have Fort of 57.
If thats right I shouldn't take epic fortitude. But I am still considering it because I don't ahve all the best gear yet and it would make leveling easier. Also I would reach the magic number of 60... well actually 57 + epic fort (4) for a Fort of 61 at character lvl 60.
Am I figuring the saves correctly?

I have been playing in the test area, and although it is very useful, I am still not completely sure about how to figure bonuses for LL. So far I have come up with this: Compared to naked@40, LL will net you 10 stat points (with appropriate saves bonuses) 7 feats +5 to saves Equipment providing : +20 to saves +12 to some stats (netting +6 to relevent saves) Approx +13 to ab (GMW), with more from other sources, capping at +20
The main thing I am looking at is saves (how many feats will I need?). It appears you get a generic +31 (+20 Items, +5 LL, +6 from stat-boost items), along with any bonuses your 10 stat points get you. Looking at Hell-Saves of 63 (?), you will want to be getting saves of 32+ to avoid buying save feats in LL. Legendary save feats are +7, Legendary Luck is +3. Epic Save Feats are +4 so assuming you have the prerequisites (pre-epic save feats) you can get another +14 to saves if needed.

Unless of course you have managed to fit in paladin, two blackguard (or both) into your build which on a non-Cha based toon will give you +6 or +12 to all your saves (assuming you started with a minimum of 10 Cha). If its a Cha based sorc, bard or bloodfire mage then you can add a stupid amount to your saves and only worry about 1s ever bothering you for non stat-based saves.

As for testing it would be nice if you also get an armor and shield to determin your ac a bit more acuratly. Often i also forget to count all the feats/stats i get at ll. Would be nice if you get a version of the altar in the test room. At least somethign basict like boost wis and you get a +10 to your wisdom and max disc etc maximizing your discipline. Sincie this will need redesign and scripting i doubt it will happen (which is understandable) but the armor and shield shouldn't be to hard just give the weapon stand a convo and place the scripts there. even a brace or ring or something giving all your stats +12 (if its within lvl 40 or then have only Con, dex, wis and cha boosted) will help out at least in determing your AB and saves. (you then only have to calculate +20 Universal or have a second ring drop with this stats). But ill stop here as i might go a bit off topic. But in terms off effective builds adding 1 pala or 2 BG can help as a monk lvl can as well.

Is the cleave feat really such a bad feat to choose? I mean crits really get empowered by taking over.crit, dev crit.

Not any more, but in the past it's benefits were outweighed by the chance of cleaving to attack something that you REALLY wouldn't want to.

Since this thread is with general guidelines in terms of building a character, would it be possible to add or create a new topic which will provide some guidelines to the major runs occurring on HA?
I'm an old player and I haven't played for quite some time. It would be very nice to have a brief insight into the new runs and the possible aspects of your you would need to focus on.

I've tried searching, but maybe my google-fu is weaker than I had thought. Are there any excel or gdocs spreadsheets around which I can use to test builds out on paper?
Thanks!

I just use notepad...I'm more of a "stream of consciousness" character builder.
