Couldn't you have just gone level 15, and pumped your int to 19 so you could use the 9th level slots on gear?

Been looking to make a staff master with stinger. Would like to see the build with stinger on this also.

First, I would just like to thank Yue for another great build. His format is always excellent.
I was curious if some of the more knowledgeable members might be willing to explain exactly what spells are "staffmaster" spells? I know this is probably beyond simple for many of you but I am fairly new to HG and have never run a melee caster even in single player.
It would also be very useful to me if anyone had advice on mid to high level gear for a staffmaster build along these lines.
I finally got the stinger tag and am dying to give this build a shot after a little more insight. ;D
p.s. Also, how is he spending his stat points for this build? All strength?

List of SpellsMid-level gear is typically normal dex tank gear, meaning robes, physical/elemental immunities and resistances, etc. You want to get +12 str/con/dex/int if possible. Probably not terribly likely at mid-levels. As for his final stat points, I can't say where they all go because I'm just at work and don't have the time to do the math.

Oh yes, all the stat points are into str, I thought that was a given. Will update that.

Do you have any combat logs that show your real ab?

True AB is easy to calculate:
12 BAB 10 EAB 15 LAB 1 WF 2 EWF 1 Epic Prowess 5 WM Superior WF 25 Str Mod
71 + 20 Magic Cap = 91 AB
Why not more WM levels pre-20 for better AB? Were you that feat tight that this was the only way to get a decent will save?
Does this build include demigod stat boosts or the one-time artifact stat boost?

Hmmm. I built the stinger version of this in test chamber and was not able to select any spells past 7th level. Will this character be able to continue spell selection into LL with weaponmaster CC or did I mess up something (like INT)? Here's the screen shot of the sheet (only attribute buffs are DEX, CON, and STR):

Yup, you need 10+(Spell Lvl)Base Intelligence, hence 17 only gives you 7th lvl spells. The build as posted takes Great Int I and II.

Aha. Yue has stinger listed as a +2 INT on his subrace mod chart.

Yes, and the last time I checked stinger doen't get +2 int. So to get lvl 9 spells with stinger you will probally have to drop two more great Str feats, for great int feats.
I'm casually building this also (lvl 15 or there abouts) so thanks for the heads up. I think I will just have to modify my build for more WM if I can not get lvl 9 (or 8) spells.
(I'm looking at you lvls 25 and 26) Still need to see how it will look in the chamber. Then do you just not take the wizard at lvl 40? It would make it rough getting all those points into concentration then. Agian, need to look into the test chamber.
If you end up with 25 lvls of weaponmaster on the build you will be able to change over to one (or two) more damage types with your staff. But I'm not sure which one that is.

25 levels of WM opens up both Positive and Negative damage types, both of which can be quite useful in a number of areas. It's really a question of do you want 9th level spells, and some skill dump, or the pos/neg energy types and a little more damage. Or you can take 1 level of monk, for the (very small) AC bonus and Evasion. After doing this with mine, I'm not sure I will do it again. Another medium-sized subrace, that is certainly easier to get than Kolyarut, and probably easier than Stinger (which is large anyway, so if you want that extra physical damage Yue talked about, it's a no-go) is Dragonblooded. You lose 2 more str and dex compared to stinger, and the WM feat (as well as a starting feat, having to go Half-Elf over Human), but gain +2 int, and 10% immunities to the elements. Pluses to str/con/int make it a suitable race, though it's obviously not optimal. Still, it is an option. Optional but not optimal I guess is what I'm saying.

Hmm... Also I thought about this a little bit more. do you need the 25 lvls of Weaponmaster before you hit LL's to get the neg and positive damage?
I read the weaponmaster post and I think this would NOT be the case, but I just want to be sure.

You can't get WM levels in LLs. So yes, you need them by 40. Funky
