Ho hum, looks like its time to rebuild my 2 Bard/8 Ftr/50 RDD to significantly increase my damage output.
Build: 6Bard, 7WM, 47RDD
Race: Human
Subrace: "Stinger"/"Kurai"
Level Progression: 5 Bard, 7 RDD, 7WM, 20RDD, 1 Bard, 20 RDD (LL)
Alignment: Chaotic
Point Behind Build: To max the critical chance and damage output with your Weapon of Choice through adding WM levels.
Human/Stinger/Kurai
Stats:
STR: 15 (19)/(17)
DEX: 13 (15)/(14)
CON: 14 (16)/(14)
WIS: 10 (8) /(10)
INT: 14 (14)/(15)
CHA: 11 (9)/(9)
Annoying stat point features – You need to waste three points on Cha as this is the minimum for a bard and if you don’t take 13 in Dex you won’t be able to get all your WM levels in before 20 costing you an attack per round.
"Stinger" (secret UltraRare subrace) - requires Human (changes Appearance)
STR +4, DEX +2, CON +2, WIS -2, CHA -2, free feat: Spring Attack, increased base movement rate - fast, able to walk on quicksand
"Kurai" (secret subrace) - requires Human (adds wings)
STR +2, INT +1, DEX +1, CHA -2, free feat: Expertise
Skills: ASAP to get RDD: Lore 8, ** to get WM: Intimidate 4, Discipline, Appraise (on bard levels) if you want good prices for items but not a necessity, Tumble to 40 (on bard levels), UMD to 34 enough to use level 9 scrolls (on bard levels) you can get away with less than this but will need a Cha boost to guarantee success, Spellcraft, Concentration - Plus you should have a few spare points to spend on other skills.

Dragonfear Aura - level 40: -2

Breath Weapon & Wing Buffet, who cares I never use these anyway, just whack them with your scythe and they won't last long!
RDD Boosts
1 Draconic Armor (+1 AC), Hit Die Increase (d6)
2 STR +2
4 STR +2), Hit Die Increase (d8)
5 (+1 AC)
6 Hit Die Increase (d10)
7 CON +2
8 (+1 AC)
9 INT +2
10 STR +4 CHA +2, (+1 AC), Half-Dragon: Darkvision, Immunity to Fire, Immunity to Paralysis, Immunity to Sleep
15 STR +1, (+1 AC)
20 STR +1, CON +1, INT +1 (requires Epic Toughness 5), (+1 AC)
25 STR +1 (requires Epic Toughness 7), (+1 AC)
30 STR +1, CON +1, CHA +1 (requires Epic Toughness 10) You don't get the normal RDD (+1 AC) as you're now in LL. Note: You will need to use/get the item that enable higher level RDD upgrades at this stage (whereas a normal 1/9/30 RDD would get this automatically) as the changes are based on your total character level and not just your RDD level. I wondered why I still looked like a Stinger at 43, thanks for the confirmation Funky!
35 STR +1
40 STR +1, CON +1, INT +1
45 STR +1
Optimal gear
Penumbrian Plate (Illithid item) – For areas where you might get imploded, in other areas you could swap to UR armor types for different benefits (Note - If you don't take the heavy armor feat you'll need the Cloak of Worldliness to equip this)* See notes on page two now the cloak has been fixed!
Pentevite Shield (Illithid item) – Gives you a huge ac boost and 100% immunity to electricity
Ygrette’s Ephemeral Locket (UR necklace) – 20 Resistance to all physical damage types
Boots of the Bastion (UR boots) – 25 Resistance to Cold, Fire, Electric, Sonic and Acid
Unitary Focus (UR helm) - +12 to Dex and Wis to boost your will and reflex saves by 6
Belt of Bestial Resillience (Illithid item) - +12 to Str and Con and other benefits
Clasps of the Forewarned (Rare bracer) – 10% physical damage immunities and some other benefits (Brazen Defiance UR would be slightly better but are more difficult to come by)
Ectoplasmic Weave (Illithid item) - Cloak with loads of nice resistances/immunities
Glacier’s Death Knell (Rare ring) – 75/50 Sonic/Cold
Chillfangs Binder (Rare ring) – 75/50 Acid /Cold
Dustbone Scythe – The pinnacle of hurtyness for your enemies
With this gear set-up you will be completely immune/resistant to all five elements and have decent physical damage immunity/resistance as well. Who needs Shunt, you know where I'm going with this!
Notes – OK your Str is in no way maxed but your RDD additions make up for this giving you a perfectly acceptable 64 (boosted) Str by the end. You could take another non-exotic large weapon and free up a feat but x5 crits and +2 to your crit chance (16-20) with a scythe is nice.
Low on optional feats but as you’re taking a non-Ftr based RDD that’s hardly a surprise.
As I don't regularly use the RDD breath and buffet with my current level 60 RDD I don't think I'll miss the slight drop in dc you get by only taking 47 levels.
Unfortunately there are minimal other build options for doing this due to the free WM feat you get with Stinger, on a positive note it also means no levitation ring required in the desert (allowing for my favorite combo of Wistan's Gouge Guard and Bauphin's Bulwark) and a slight speed boost.
As none of the classes in this build give you heavy armor proficency its time to pick up a Cloak of Worldliness unless you really want to waste a feat on this?
17/11/06 Immo run last night and boy does this build put out some serious damage vs. non critical immune enemies, I was complemented by other party members who were impressed by the output.
20/11/06 Kurai added as a build option. Will probably need some more stat point tweaking but its there just in case you want it and don't have access to Stinger.
24/11/06 Even with the introduction of the Winged Salmander BUR this build is still viable as in exchange for the level 50 RDD boosts you get +1 final ac from tumble at bard level 40 (would have been +2 but you lose one std RDD ac boost) and the ability to use high level scrolls which is not to be underestimated.
