Enchantment specialization for a PM wouldn't help a PM at all since there isn't a save for power word kill, the only spell for PM's in that school. Illusion would increase the dc of weird and the other spells they get for that school.

How do I know if I picked illusion specialization? Just made a toon, and checking at his inventory, couldnt find a tip that hes an illusion specialist... Only saw that I cannot cast the sleep scroll anymore...

On your character sheet, if you scroll down just the Base Attack entry, there will be a line for School of Magic: In your case, it should say Illusion.

Ah, found it. K, but theres still a problem: when I cast color spray at an enraged bison, it says DC 16, but with my INT 20, it should be 18 (10 + spell lvl + INT bonus + illusion specialization). So, the +2 isnt applied yet, or am I bugged?

I would post that in the Bug/Problem Report forum, especially if you can get screenshots of the combat log.

Totally unconstructive, but I find the idea of a Pale Master pixie bloody brilliant! "Ashes to ashes, pixiedust to pixiedust..."

Could someone walk me through the DC calculation? I've been using this build and just for fun thought I'd calculate my own dc to see if it came out the same as Dark's. At 60th level my Int should be 60, 62 with the eye. So the ability modifier would be 24/25. So, 10(base)+9(spell level)+8(spell focus)+25(ability modifier)+2(necro specialization)=54. With the specialization and the eye of vecna it's supposed to be at 57, so what am I missing?

Too lazy to quote the class change books, but PMs get +1 DC to necro and illusion spells for every 15 levels. So at PM lvl 45, you get the missing +3.

Actually 60 int gets you (60-10)/2= +25 modifier.

By way of request I'm going to post here about the PM I built using the build in this thread. Before going over the slight changes I made I want to iterate that this build was built with the express purpose of destroying Ssith and Illithids. It was never my intention to take this guy to Hell, although I hear that a couple levels in Hell could really benefit from a PM. Anyway, my feat selections were the same. At level 38 I took Epic Warding. The biggest changes I made, which weren't all that big, were specializing in Necromancy and using an Illusion book instead of Transmutation. This meant I gave up PWK, the mages kill-all spell, for 2 DC on wail. Personally I don't miss PWK at all. I'm a palemaster, I can already kill with a touch As for giving up the epic wall for the Illusion focus, well I did it to get the DC on Weird up. I had heard that it was useful, so I went that route instead. Honestly though, I would take the wall if I could do it again. Weird is an annoying spell that only works sometimes. I have far more success with Wail (including in Hell (only done Tia)) than Weird. BUT getting the Illusion focus did mean I got Starfire, which is SOOOO satisfying Starting stats were: Str 8 Dex 8 Con 14 Int 18 Wis 10 Cha 14 Saves are 65, 61, 65 I also used the eye of vecna. As you can see, it's not much different from the original build, and it does devastate both Ssithraks and Illithids, so I'd have to say that this build is very good. On a side note, like any build, good equipment is needed to be the tank my PM is.

Hello.
I've never played HG but I'm a bit bored of writing my own modules filled enemies to kill, so I thought I'd try a PW. I've always used a Wizard/Palemaster build in NWN single player, and would probably do so on HG (if I started playing it), but I'd like to know if this build will work without the rare sub-races (as I can't use them). I'm thinking of using Drow as a substitute as it comes with an INT bonus and spell resistance, are there any better alternatives.
Or is it actually fairly easy to get the Pixie subrace?

Well we cant post secrets in the Forum, but you can ask someone ingame about the races. I think they will help you. You will need i would say at least a level 34+ char to get this particular race, without going into details. I never thought about nonsecret caster races but i would not take drow. -5 con hurt a lot. The -3 con stack with the -2 you gain from elf. But i know a certain wiz that actually took that race and is level 60 . Not sure what free race i would take. Maybe hmmm Tinke Gnome? The size actually does not matter because once you become a lich you get medium size.

Perhaps Dwarf Derrzagon? (free to all) gives +2 dex and int
(bear in mind that non human base races have one less feat at character creation)

Thanks. I didn't realise Drow got -5 CON. I think I'll go for Gnome because being small has always been a useful advantage in past builds (being hit that little bit less helps you not to die).
The other race I was considering was an Air Genasi as it comes with an INT bonus and a bonus feat. Would you say the feat was worth taking over the Gnomes' CON bonus?
