The Dark Archer 1Wiz/23AA/16Rog
Elves are known for their poetry, song, and magical arts, but when danger threatens they show great skill with weapons and strategy. Elves can live to be over 700 years old, and by human standards are slow to make friends and enemies, and even slower to forget them. Elves are slim and stand 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 feet tall. They tend to be pale-skinned and dark-haired with deep green eyes. They have no facial or body hair, prefer comfortable clothes, and possess unearthly grace. Many other races find them hauntingly beautiful.
Elven ability adjustments: +2 Dex, -2 Con
Favored class (Wizard): A multiclass elf's wizard class does not count when determining whether he suffers an XP penalty for multiclassing.
Special Abilities
Sleeplessness: Immune to spells and effects of the 'Sleep' subtype.
Hardiness vs. Enchantments: +2 racial bonus on saving throws against mind-affecting spells.
Bonus Proficiencies (Longsword, Rapier, Shortbow, Longbow)
Skill Affinity (Listen): +2 racial bonus to listen checks.
Skill Affinity (Search): +2 racial bonus to Search checks.
Skill Affinity (Spot): +2 racial bonus to Spot checks.
Keen Senses: Elves make active Search checks automatically and with no movement penalties.
Low-light Vision: Allows them to see better than normal in the dark.

Arcane Archer
X-There are four bows only usable by arcane archers that are able to inflict massive elemental damage. These bows alter the damage type that the AA's Imbue Arrow ability does.
X-Seeker arrow now does increased damage, with the multiplier scaling up to x9 at 50 levels AA. At 24 levels of AA (legendary levels included if control is AA) it becomes unlimited uses per day. At 29 levels of AA (legendary levels included if control is AA) it adds a Bigby's Interposing Hand effect to the target lasting ten rounds and resisted at a check against the AA's level (legendary levels included if control is AA) + 20 + d20.
X-Hail of Arrows gains unlimited uses at 28 levels of AA (legendary levels included if control is AA). Legendary levels do NOT count when calculating its damage bonus multiplier, whch remains capped at x5 for 30 levels of AA.
X-Death Arrow gains unlimited uses at 30 levels of AA (legendary levels included if control is AA). Legendary levels now count when calculating the save of the arrow (if the archer's control class is AA), which is capped at arcane archer level + 15, to a maximum of 49 dc at arcane archer level 34. At AA level 35 (counting legendary levels if the character's control class is AA), the death arrow ability changes dramatically. It becomes usable only once every 4 minutes, but casts wail of the banshee, with a dc of AA level + 5 (legendary levels included if control is AA), capped at dc 55 at AA level 50, and resisted at a check against the AA's level (legendary levels included if control is AA) + 20 + d20.
X-Imbue Arrow gains unlimited uses at 22 levels of AA (legendary levels included if control is AA). Its damage type may be altered by equipping certain bows found ingame. It does 1d6 damage per AA level, including legendary levels if the character's control class is AA, with a dc of AA level + 5 (legendary levels included if control is AA), capped at dc 55 at AA level 50, and resisted at a check against the AA's level (legendary levels included if control is AA) + 20 + d20.
Skills
Max tumble on Rogue levels then take it to 40 points at level 40
Minimum of 30 points hide to get access to Self Concealment
Give yourself enough UMD on Rogue levels to at least be able to use scrolls as the ability to Mord and GS can be very useful in certain situations.
After that its personal choice depending on what else you want to try but as you’ll never be able to open really high dc stuff points in other Rogue skills are somewhat dubious.
Max spellcraft as every 5 ranks in this give you a +1 to saves vs spells
Pros
Very high final Dex
Max 65 sr at lvl60
Evasion so you generally take low or no damage from spells with a reflex save (assuming they get past your sr)
Enchant Arrow XII at lvl38
8D6 Sneak Attack
Very good ab with bow and average ab with rapier
Good ac which can be boosted significantly by swapping to rapier/shield combo
Epic Dodge at level 24 means that the first successful attack every round misses (and later on they’ll have to get past your self-concealment first as well!)
50% Self Concealment at level 40
+8 Tumble ac at level 40 (from tumble skill)
+4 vs Spells saving throw at level 40 (from spellcraft skill)
You’re a Drow and they’re cool!
Cons
You have to spend a load of initial ability points to prevent having a crappy con
Limited ability to open stuff and remove traps (if you choose to take points in these skills)
Your ab will never be as good as a FTR based AA (but hey read the Pros)
Crappy discipline and concentration
Limited alternative Feat choices if you want to tweak the build
Not a bad build considering anybody can take it with no requirement for secret sub-races. Other options are to take Half-Elf as your Race letting you start as a Bard with no Exp penalty but I like the inate sr that Drow gives you.
3/7/06 Tweaked the build to take more Rogue levels earlier giving Self Concealment V at a much lower level and corrected the stat point additions.
5/7/06 Edited sr information based on answers to questions elsewhere on the boards.
6/7/06 Spellcraft skill benefits added, added updated AA LL information.
7/7/06 Edited LL sr information
12/7/06 Edited because I'm stupid and had one Rogue level too few, on the plus side this means you get Self Concealment V before LL and another free choice Feat later
14/7/06 Added AA LL benefits on leveling scale
30/8/06 Removed Move Silently skill as not necessary for Self Conceal and replaced with UMD for scroll use.
12/9/06 Got him to level 60 and I'm pretty pleased with the results (especially for a non secret subrace). Took my free choice Feats as Armor Skin (you can't argue with +2 ac) and improved critical rapier (when I have to swap to it). This is a good all round toon especially when you get access to the uber bows as you have excellent defense and good damage output against just about all enemies with careful swapping of bows.
