I had to get rid of the monk level due to not wanting to have a XP penalty. There are no great choices for races in this build, so I did what I felt I needed to do. Drider is just unplayable :/.
Also, this is a build for a brand new player. A gear set up that includes the basics and raises listen may be a bit of a stretch for a new player. I just assume by the time the player starts getting a battle cleric gear setup that works for them is the same time they'll likely be looking to reincarnate to a better subrace. Ideally that would be a half elf race so they can take LSA Listen.
This is a very attractive build. I was checking it out for a friend of mine who might try out NWN/HG soon. I might try it out myself if he doesn't go for it since I'll need to make a new toon to go with his. My only immo character is a pure caster cleric but I spend more time in combat than not - so this build would probably have been a better choice for me
Thanks for all the detail.
By the way, I noticed this section still talks about monk levels:
Blooded is an investment feat that will allow you to take the tumble skill as a class skill after level 42 (once you attain the Legendary Skill Affinity Tumble feat). It is important that you save skill points to later dump into this skill at level 21 and 40 (with your monk levels) and and level 43 when Tumble becomes a class skill
