Great build. My first rogue and, so far, lots of fun. I tweaked it a bit by going for Dwarf - Derrzagon and fighter only (may rebuild with f/dd).
PROS -- con/int/dex bonuses, high SR for lower levels, dwarf racial bonuses/favored class, fighter extra feats
CONS -- no extra 1st level feat means sacrificing either strong soul or bullheaded (or starting as fighter), no pally charisma bonuses/fear immune
Any suggestions/comments/warnings on this path?
Thx in advance.

Hmm, well, on one hand, you get 6 stat points to spend elsewhere, since charisma is no longer a good investment, you can spend it on raising dexterity to 18, or put them into strength for the numerous stat checks throughout the late-game, though that path is less useful earlier on. I don't see a DD splash being useful, you have to get dodge for it, the immunity to flanking comes at level 5, which is quite a big investment. You can get weapon specialization with 4 fighter, so 36/4 seems most logical. Dwarves get bullheaded free, so you can take strong soul, however, there is the matter of of the missing +8 to all saves. Reflex probably doesn't matter since that is so high anyways, but it would take 4 feats to replace such a loss (ouch!) You do get a higher con, so maybe you can get away with not having to take feats to increase fortitude, but on the other hand, -wisdom will mean a lower will. You can take legendary will (the build comes with iron will), and probably epic fortitude to cover your losses. This however, does leave you with a 2 lower dexterity, unless you forked over the points from charisma, and still lower saves, and no fear immune(which can be pretty big). I think all you get for it is a 2 higher strength and con, +2 intelligence, but you don't get the human skills bonus, the dwarf minor traits, and more flexibility with your alignment.

I am going to reincarnate my 35/3/2 version of this to the 36/2/2 version. I'm using a dagger with mine, since I have a decent collection of them.
Question I have is, by using dagger I free up a feat early on by not taking Exotic Weap. Is there a way to use this spare feat to improve Will saves? Can Opportunist or Rapid Reload, for example, be shifted to a different level in order to take Epic Will at lvl 23, for example? Would doing this hose something in the Legendary Levels?
Not currently at my computer where I can load HG and mess around in the tester and even if I could, wasn't sure that fitting Epic Will in somewhere would still add to saves when taking Legendary Soul later.
I'm sure there's something I'm missing, since I don't pretend to be any kind of toon builder.
Thanks,
Ferghus

there isnt really a way to fit in epic will, since you arent taking any feats that are available pre-epic in epic levels. looking at the saving throws though, i think you would be able to exchange hardened soul for legendary will, and thus free up a feat at creation while maintaining 60+ in all saves
this leaves you with two free feats pre-epic, meaning you could either take great fort along with something else (maybe a skill focus or something), or you could drop the two fighter levels since you dont need those two feats anymore

Yeah, I can see now that I can't get Epic Will in there. I think that I'll substitute Skill Focus Open Lock for Exotic Weap. Prof. Seems like can always use a bit more for opening chests.

Using dagger instead of kukri? Well, you have some options.. Well for one, I would keep the level spread as is. Paladin 3 and 4 don't really get you much, and going 36/1/3 will give you an XP penalty, which isn't nice. You shouldn't need skill focus: OL, you should be able to hit the engine cap quite easily, and with +12 tools, you should be able to crack open any lock you find early-game, I think more trouble comes from search and disable trap checks. You could just take exotic anyways, it will allow you to use kukris that you find, and other exotic weapons. My scoundrel keeps a nunchuck in his inventory because it doesn't slag, though you could just use a sap I suppose. I think you might want to get weapon focus: light crossbow though, either that or some ranged feat, but I like crossbows because you can get 7 attacks a round with them, and kobold+crossbow kind of goes together. It's a very nice sidearm to have with your sneak attacks. I think this option is the best one if you're really stuck with using daggers.
Edit: Another route you could take is to sub out exotic, iron will, and rapid reload for the two-weapon fighting feats, but I don't really like this, first it kind of restricts you to a sling for ranged combat, which isn't as damaging or stylish as a crossbow. Secondly you don't get any offhand AC so you won't likely be dual wielding too often, but it's an option, I suppose.

Hrmm..some good points there. I hadn't considered weapon focus light x-bow. I haven't found myself using the x-bow hardly at all (lvl 54 so far). I tend to just wade in and melee and pick pocket.
Without a full compliment of rogue gear, I have been having problems with locks, such as the DB chest, hence my thought on the skill focus open locks. Maybe I'll try using the x-bow more and seeing how that works in situations. I haven't been playing this toon real hard since I made it, so probably I'm not utilizing it to it's best potential.
This is a nice build, especially as it's an open subby. Several months ago, I was able to reincarnate my first HG toon into this build after having a high 40's worth of xp languishing in the vault for a year.
Thanks again for the build and all the follow up, Kobra.

this may be a dumb question, but i see epic dodge at 28, but i dont ever see you picking up dodge.. isnt that a prereq? furthermore isnt it just a good feat to have?
edit: upon re-reading the whole thread i see that dodge isnt actually required.. is there confirmation on this before i screw my progression up? >.<

nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Epic_dodgeStrangely enough, dodge is not required for epic dodge. It does require 30 tumble, and the other prereqs, but dodge isn't one of them.

another question: at rogue 40 we ignore most sneak attack immunity. does this mean that we will never get that in this build, since we will never hit true rogue 40, or will we get it at level 44 (36 rogue levels, 4 legendary rogue levels)?

Per the powers that be, the Sneak Imm bypass does NOT include Legendary Levels.

None of the non pure rogue builds get universal sneak attack. By making a non pure rogue you trade off universal sneak attack for better AB, more attacks per round, and better saves etc. Basically in all pre-hell levels and pretty much every hells level pre-maladomini non pure builds are going to out damage a pure rogue. Once you introduce large amount of pit fiends the pure rogues more consistent damage starts winning on the logs.
