We'd like to start proceeding with the NWN 1.69 and CEP 2.1 upgrade on Higher Ground. However, Bioware has not released patches for most of the localized players (French, Italian, German, Spanish, and so on).
There is a procedure that lets localized players upgrade to the English 1.69. What we'd like to do is get an idea of how many people are playing using non-English NWN, and how willing they would be to do a cross-language upgrade (the procedure itself is relatively simple).
Ideally, we'd like to upgrade HG two weekends from now, around August 2nd. So, if you are using a non-English NWN, or have other questions or concerns, please post in this thread.
If you know a player who doesn't read the forums or doesn't speak English well, and who does play HG, please convey this post to them and ask them to post here or post on their behalf.
Thanks, Acaos

To clarify, here's the process: 1. Install the base NWN 1.68 English dialog.tlk file. We will provide this for you. 2. Download the NWN 1.69 English Critical Rebuild. Use that to upgrade your installation to 1.69. You need to get this from Bioware. 3. You'll then want to download and CEP 2.1 and the 1.69 HG Enhanced. We'll provide a way to update to CEP 2.1 with WorldGate as well. The critical rebuild can be found here. Acaos

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE 1.69 CONVERSIONIf you haven't downloaded CEP 2.1 yet, please do so here: nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Hakpaks.Detail&id=7478You will want one of these two files: CEP_2_Full_c.7z OR CEP21_Full_c.exe. We will probably perform the transition to 1.69 in two stages; the first would be to install hybrid CEP 2.0/2.1, and the second will be to move to 1.69 and full CEP 2.1. To install hybrid CEP 2.0/2.1, all you have to do is install the CEP 2.1c package over your existing CEP 2.0 installation. Do not delete the cep2_v1.tlk or cep2_top_v1.hak files. You will be able to continue playing Higher Ground after we make the first move (to hybrid CEP 2.0/2.1) and when we update to 1.69, you will just have to get the NWN update to play. Please communicate this post and the instructions here to anyone you can who may not read the forums. We would like to make the first stage of this move as rapidly as possible. I am also building a WorldGate update for CEP 2.1 now, and will post instructions on that when it is ready. Once we move to hybrid CEP 2.0/2.1, one of the HG servers will probably remain temporarily on CEP 2.0, and players there will be unable to leave the Voyage. We will try to station DMs or ask experienced or helpful players to come by there to help people get upgraded. Acaos

Sorry if this clutters the post, and i can move the discussion to the Drunken Monk if it's better placed there, but what is WorldGate?

WorldGate is a program that allows you to download only differences and changes in hak files, rather than needing to download the entire thing. You can read more information in the HG Enhanced thread or at wg.hgweb.org. Acaos

I have downloaded the cep versions. I would like to confirm two things.
1. should we download the upgrade from bioware or use the upgrade option that (anoyingly) appears everytime NWN starts?
2. Just to be sure, should we wait till the critical date (aug. 2nd?) to make the changes? Or is there something (like the change to hybrid 2.0/2.1 cep - is it one of the 2 files you named?) that we should do beforehand?
Take care Kaezar

Install CEP 2.1 now. You only need one of the two files I listed (they are the same thing, just one is a self-installer and the other is an archive). You'll need it this weekend and it won't hurt anything to have it installed before we do the changeover (a couple of shields may look broken, but that's it). Make sure you don't delete your old CEP2 haks (some are no longer in CEP 2.1, but we will still use them until we move to 1.69), but do overwrite files with newer versions from CEP 2.1 where available. Don't install NWN 1.69 (the Bioware update) until we have upgraded to 1.69 on August 2nd. For that, you can use either the in-game update or download the critical rebuild from Bioware for 1.69. If you want to pre-download the critical rebuild, you can get it at nwn.bioware.com/support/patch_english_hotu.html. Acaos

You need to wait until August 2nd before updating to 1.69. Install CEP2.1 now, and wait till August 2nd to install 1.69. You'll know when it's time to install 1.69 because when you try to login, you'll be told that your version doesn't match the server's. Funky

I've just posted documentation for the upgrade at www.hgweb.org/169.html. Please visit there for instructions and update times. If you are fluent in a language other than English and can translate the page, please let me know. I would like to post this page in as many languages as possible for our players. If you see any errors or have questions about the content of the page, please post in this thread. Thanks, Acaos

We have the documentation translated into Norwegian, Polish, and Portuguese so far. We have German and Spanish translations in progress, but the Spanish one at least has been stymied by Unicode issues. We'll work on getting those resolved as soon as possible.
We'd love to have French and Italian translations as well.
