HG Enhanced now has WorldGate support. WorldGate is a program originally developed for NWN2 (but that now supports NWN1 as well) to automatically download and merge hak files. WorldGate only downloads files which have changed and also uses compression to significantly reduce download time. The author of WorldGate, Tanita, has been kind enough to provide me the source code for it to modify WorldGate slightly for HG's special needs. With luck, these will be available in her next version on NWVault as well. The Higher Ground version of WorldGate can be downloaded from wg.hgweb.org/WorldGate-HG-1_6_0_0.rar. It requires .NET 2.0 (it -may- work with .NET 1.1 but this has not been tested - if you do only have .NET 1.1 and it works, please report that). It should be fully backwards compatible with the standard version of WorldGate if you are already using that (but you will need the 1.6.0.0 version to download HG Enhanced). The standard version of WorldGate, if you want it for your own needs, can be found here on NWVault. After you download WorldGate, decompress it into your NWN directory, then run the WorldGateClient program. Select 'new' and then click the 'From URL' button. Depending on which version of HG Enhanced you use, enter one of the following URLs: After doing so, one field will still be red. You will need to enter the location of your NWN installation in this field (the '...' next to it will open a file browser if you wish to use that). Then click 'test & exit'. If you have NWN2 installed, the NWN installation field may be automatically filled in with the location of your NWN2 installation. You will need to change it to point at your NWN1 installation. You can then update HG Enhanced by using the 'check for new files' button. If you have any problems, please report them. Testers are greatly appreciated. The Giant Portrait Thingy will also be available soon through WorldGate as well. As many of you may have heard, CEP 2.1 will be released when Bioware releases NWN 1.69. We intend to offer a WorldGate update of CEP as well, which will hopefully make it much faster and easier for HG players to update when it becomes required. Acaos

The Giant Portrait Thingy is now available in several versions through WorldGate as well. - Huge - wg.hgweb.org/GPTH.ini - This contains the huge portraits and is completely optional. The only time these portraits are visible is in the huge window during character portrait selection. If you do not have this package, you will just see white, but you will be able to select the portrait normally using the smaller images in the selection box.
- Large - wg.hgweb.org/GPTL.ini - This contains the large portraits. It is also optional, but these portraits are what you see on your character sheet and in the login screen, so you may wish to get it.
- Small - wg.hgweb.org/GPTS.ini - This package contains medium, small, and tiny portraits. It is recommended, as it will enable you to select portraits from the GPT and to see the portraits of other characters in game.
- CEP - wg.hgweb.org/GPTC.ini - This package contains the CEP portraits, allowing you to use them during character creation. It is highly recommended and is thus offered separately from the Small package.
- View-Only Hak - wg.hgweb.org/GPTV.ini - This will overwrite an optional CEP hak file with one containing the same portraits found in the Small package. This will let you see the portraits of other players in-game, but will not enable them on the selection screen. If you have a small collection of portraits you like to use, but do not wish to have the problems with new character creation lag (and occasional crashes) that a large portrait collection brings, this package is recommended.
For people who want to increase their portrait selection, we recommend packages in this order: CEP, Small, Large, Huge. For other people, we recommend the View-Only Hak. The View-Only Hak is still in beta. Please make sure you back up the file cep2_add_sb_v1.hak in your hak directory before you download it through WorldGate. However, that hak file is not used by players and you should not encounter any problems with it being overwritten. If you develop for other PWs or modules which use CEP, we do not recommend the View-Only Hak. The View-Only hak can also be downloaded by itself here.
As always, please remember that the Giant Portrait Thingy is a completely unfiltered collection of portraits taken from NWVault. If you are a parent and your children play, we recommend that you download portrait collections yourself from NWVault so you may vet their contents and decide what you wish is appropriate. Some of the portraits in the GPT contain nudity, violence, or clowns. Acaos

HG Enhanced has been updated to Beta 20 and is available through HGWiki and WorldGate as usual.
In addition, an HG-modified client executable is now available. This is totally optional and not required for using HG Enhanced. If you are not comfortable replacing your NWN executable, do not attempt to install the modified executable. Windows Versiondl.hgweb.org/client/nwmain-169-hg.rarThis version of the client changes byte 0x15476C from 0x82 to 0xFE. This raises the limit on effect icons from 129 to 254. It changes the 2 bytes at 0xA93F9 and 0xA9697 from C8 41 to 20 42. This raises the maximum camera distance from 25m to 40m. It changes the 4 bytes at 0xA968B from 00 00 80 3F to CC CC 4C BE. This allows entering true first-person camera mode by pressing the Home key while in Drive Camera mode. It changes the byte at 0xA940D from B2 42 to 07 43. This allows angling the camera to look upward. Be warned that if you have HG Enhanced skyboxes on, you may see the edges of skyboxes which cannot normally be viewed. We will remodel some of these in the future to fix this. It changes the byte at 0x3BCDF9 from 34 to 94. This increases the maximum tile fog distance from 45m to 75m, which allows you to see more terrain around your character. It changes the bytes at 0x1F0E from 74 and 0x1F3F28 from 72 to EB. This allows running multiple instances of the NWN client. Linux Versiondl.hgweb.org/client/nwmain-169-hg.tar.gzThis version of the client changes byte 0x07B9CA from 0x81 to 0xFE. This raises the limit on effect icons from 129 to 254. Installation InstructionsYou will need to replace your main NWN executable with the modified client ( nwmain.exe for Windows users and nwmain for Linux users). BACK UP YOUR ORIGINAL NWN EXECUTABLE FIRST. This modification should have no effect on you playing other modules or PWs, as only HG can generate the necessary data. Acaos

The Windows version of the HG Client has been updated to include enhanced camera unlocking, which allows you to pull the camera out further, enter a first-person mode using Drive Camera, and allows you to tilt the camera down further. In addition, it will let you start multiple instances of the NWN client on your computer. For more information, see this post. The camera edits were gleaned from this tool found on the vault: nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Other.Detail&id=1358. Acaos

HG Enhanced has been updated to Beta 24. If you use HG Enhanced, this is a mandatory update for the coming update. You can get HG Enhanced from the usual place: HG Enhanced, or via the HGE Updater. Acaos
