It prevents on-spawn lag, those milliseconds of pause when someone hits a spawnpoint.
It might even improve performance with cloud spells...

I added the line in but I have not noticed a huge difference in my computers performance. (Used 64) Then again, my computer is such a pathetic mess that it might not even matter anyways, (blasted 30 GB hard drive on a 4 month old computer. ) What number did you use Yue? 64 is not making a difference for me, if anything it seems to lag things down when i'm walking around town.

My laptop is unable to handle 64. I recommend 32 unless you have a gaming laptop.

I'm using 64, but then again my system is pretty decent considering its age and how much I paid to put it together. (About 1.5 years and $500, though the video card is only about 6 months old.)

I tried it with 32 and it's still working horribly. I'm pretty sure that something along the lines of "would allocate more memory if possible, which is not", is happening, albeit, I don't know since my computer is such a mess. It;s 30 GB total and the operating system takes almost half of it. That and NWN alone leaves me with about 9 GB left. I really don't know how much physical memory my computer has or any of the graphics settings as my documentation lied about more than enough of the other system specs. Well, mine cost about the same, got it 4 months ago, and it works worse than my 5 year old desktop. I certainly got my money's worth.

typing 'dxdiag' into the run box usually reveals most things you need to know about graphics/ram and that sorta stuff.
I'm playing on a 4 year old 512 RAM laptop. Works like a charm, I can have firefox and itunes open in the background and NWN at 1028 resolution and decent graphic settings. Furthermore I seem to crash less than most others. The only problem I have is that I think it's filling up with dust, as it gets tremendously hot these days. Speedfan has recorded temperatures of up to 120 degrees Celsius. Still devising a way to cool it (need to get my hands on some sheets of copper). If you've got some brilliant ideas for cooling a laptop, let's start a thread about it or something, don't want to derail this thread further har har har.

im using 64 megs currently, as i figure my system is beefy enough to accommodate that (1gb system ram and 256mb on the graphics card)
im not certain if this setting is for only the system or the graphics ram tho, right now im leaning towards system since its including animation files and stuff but it would be nice to know for certain

This is system RAM for resources.

Just did a malbolge run with a full party after making the change. Had no lagging on spawns at all, and didn't see a single invisible monster. My overall framerate also improved quite a bit. Same here, setting @ 32 MB, very little GFX lag compared to normal, also no invisible creatures. Nice setting you found there Acaos

At 64 on NVIDIA 7600, didn't notice much difference, did notice that some models would lose their texture and instead become a featureless blob of color (no depth, only solid color) sometimes. Only noticed it once during combat, but it was quite noticeable in the Workshop while zooming in and out (only happened at some zooms).
Spawns still lagged.
Will try 32 some other time....

I tried 32 on both ATI X1950Pro and 9600Pro. Lots of invis goats on fox trail like normal. Didn't notice a huge difference in speed, but that's subjective. I may bump one up to 64. Both systems are 1GB of RAM which is adequate but not excessive for XP. Rivatuner says I usually run ~20MB of VRAM with NWN -- compared to oblivion NWN is a complete lightweight.

Was on the same Malbolge run as Zerr and had set mine to 64, I experienced no issues and I must say it did seem like less spawn lag, although we did have chat lag as lala was frequently crashing and doing an in game diagnosis of his system problems

I know, 30 GB is one of the only specs I concretely know about my computer. My documentation says I have about 700 RAM but I don't believe it. But kobra .. your computer produces way to much weirdness. This tweak can only further entertain me by producing even MORE strange things....... Hmm, I think all it does is make things lag while i'm in town(and docks), but this shouldn't give me more strange graphics, after all, the fact that I had no graphics drivers and an unknown card, and the fact I had to import drivers from my 5 year old desktop does enough of that on it's own. Speaking of which, I need to update that topic...

Speaking of which, I need to update that topic... Your PC will almost certainly have 768MB of RAM made up of a 512MB and 256MB module however it will display as slightly less than this as the onboard graphics subsystem will steal 16, 32, 64 or 128MB of this (can usually be adjusted in the BIOS to improve performance). If you could possibly point me in the direction of the make and model number of your machine I can almost certainly give you some advice on the best graphics drivers to use. A graphics system without the correct drivers is going to cause you major pain, even my cheapo backup Acer laptop with a nasty SIS integrated graphics chipset is quite capable of playing NWN when the latest drivers are installed.
