Sounds like you may have a corrupt HAK file. Try deleting cep2_core0.hak from your hak folder and then copying the file cep2_top_v22.hak and renaming the copy cep2_core0.hak. Then run the updater again.
Also, can you tell me the exact procedure you used to install CEP? This isn't the first report of this issue, but I have been completely unable to reproduce it here.

I installed using CEP21_Full_c.exe, I then tried to update to the latest version using the updater.
I will try your suggestion and report back in a couple minutes.

We don't recommend using the .exe installer - it's twice as big as the 7z or RAR versions and takes MUCH longer to run - you might consider trying one of the other versions in the future.
Please let me know if rebuilding cep2_core0.hak with the above procedure works for you.
Thanks, Acaos

I only used it because I alredy had it downloaded. Good to know for the future.
Rebuilding the core0 file did work, however I got the same error on core1. I rebuilt the reamaining 6 in the same manner and it appears to be working.
Thanks for the help!

Ealier in the thread, I reported having trouble with the crash in the Overmind Complex (which situationally also took place in Xul and Zhents).
I'm happy to report that I took a trip to Thids over the XP weekend, and there was NO CRASH!! I've made no major changes to my PC's Hardware or Software (apart from a restoration using XP's Windows Restore, which I believe is unrelated).
If you guys made any changes, thankyou SO MUCH, as its made my gaming a little more stable (but still some quirks to iron out at my end).
